first of all i think the current system of invention is so unrealistic
if u invent something and make x amount you dont suddenly lose the knowledge of how to make more... edison invented the light bulb.... but after making millions of bulbs he didnt have to go back and reinvent the bulb everytime he made 1000.... this is just stupid
it should be invent once (a bpo only usable by your inventor toon) then always be able to copy that bpo to make bpc useable by all
it makes alot more sense

think of it more like the microsoft stuff that you can only activate a number of times, or like only being able to authorise a certain number of machines for itunes.
it's not about the knowledge, it's about the blueprint.
if you were given all the parts and a blueprint, maybe you could build your own motherboard for a PC or a lawnmower or a spaceship built out of matchsticks, but if you lose the blueprint then trying to build it from memory is unrealistic.
invention is fine :)

if u invent something its you that hold the copyrights to it... otherwise your just cloning someone else's invention therefore it should not be called invention but rather cloning and thus copyright infringment

Stop!
Stop trying to apply real life to an internet spaceship game...
I imagine your parent would tell you, "It's a movie! Get over it!"

Sure... make it so you have to use BPO's. That the research has to be done on the original BPO, none can be done on the T2 BPO. And make the chance at about 2% or so.

The only thing 'wrong' with invention is the name. You are, in fact, unlocking the tech 2 information from the tech 1 blueprint. Capsuleer inventors did not 'invent' the Harpy.. that was actually done by Ishukone. What you are actually doing is using the fancy data interfaces and datacores to unlock the blueprint to be able to feed the information into the assembly line automation systems. Really, it should actually be called Hacking, instead of Invention.. but that was already used in game...

I hereby propose that Invention be renamed to Copyright Infringement, then threads kile these should disappear.

This.
I've never understood it.
ok with faster than light travel. ok with instant communication regardless of distance. ok with space ships that use a submarine physics model. ok with flawless cloning which grants imortality. ok with containers that are bigger on the inside than on the outside.
But **** that 2 run BPC. That **** crosses a line!
It's non-sensical.
