As stated in the feedback thread, the Hyperion's textures look super compressed since Apocrypha. I would like some confirmation from CCP that this is a bug and not some kind of 'optimization' at the expense of quality. Also, the bloom effect is overpowering with white anomalies still show up with AA and bloom (yeah yeah, enough about 'not officially supported', at least make it AA friendly like it used to be).
Also, although the new ships casting shadows on other objects is cool and all, what is with the pixelated mess and no quality settings? Before the 'extreme' setting (or even 'high') look beautiful and crisp, now it's all jagged and jittery.
And finally, please tell me the new sensor booster effect is a bug? This used to be the most annoying effect in the game until Apocrypha 1.0 finally made it subtle and clean, now it's even more annoying and in your face than pre-appocrytha.
CCP, a little feedback if these are known issued would be nice.

Hyperion now looks so ugly, compaired to old classic version, that i can't even express my dissapointment. To hell the bloom and coloring... but tex. resolution is realy bad!
Also Dominix have some problem textures as well.
If you want example of good gallante ship, just look upon the brutix.
Please fix Hyperion and Dominix texture quality.

Just noticed the Mega's textures are also messed up, this seems to be affecting many ships.
I just really hope this is a bug and not some ugly performance optimization, especially for us with good computers that like all the eye candy. :/

You want an ugly texture? Check out the Myrmidon. Putting the shader higher makes it worse. It's been that way since I upgraded to Premium. --- The Gate: Lol, try targeting me in a fleet fight. The Station: No U. |

It looks like there is something wrong with the 'high' setting as pretty much all the ships look really compressed now. It's not as noticeable when your zoomed out, but its no where near as crisp as it used to be. It looks like the shaders are all 'blocky' looking.
please fix this, why would our graphics take a big step back?

Edited by: Nakuda on 29/03/2009 01:09:20 Seems like even after they got rid of the old classic versions graphics, all the new graphics added in Apocrypha increased the clients size so much, that they had to scale down the textures... Which is quite shame, but only really noticeable when "stationspinning". I wonder how much the clients size would increase if they added at least the higher resolution ship textures back.
Or it could be some bug with the texture filtering too. Not sure.

Edited by: NightmareX on 29/03/2009 21:15:17 I don't have those problems at all.
But i'm using Windows Web Server 2008 (64-bit) and an ATI Radeon X1900XT card.
Every ships for me are crisp and clear.
It might be something with your graphic driver though.

The old Hyperion (and a few other ships, e.g. Megathron) textures used to be 2048x2048, whereas the other ship textures were all 1024x1024. The new Hyperion textures have now been downscaled to 1024x1024, which is why they now look a bit blurry compared to the old ones.

Any sources from CCP that this is true?.
Megathron looks the same now as it did before Apocrypha expansion for me.

I've got an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600.
But thats besides the point really. The actual texture file itself has had it's resolution halved, from 2048x2048 down to 1024x1024.

If i was you and the OP, i would just redownload the EVE client to be 100% sure that there isn't any problems with the Shaders.
Because i clearly doesn't have those problems.

Ok.
But here is an update.
I now tried to jump into a Hyperion on sisi and yes, your right about the problem. The Hyperion looks terrible now.
Earlier i was just testing my Navy Mega, Megathron, Tempest, Kronos, Vargur and Maelstrom and some other smaller ships. And they was all fine.
But now i just tried with the Hyperion. And as far as i can see so far, the Hyperion is the only ship for me that looks terrible, also that the texture and model looks bad.
CCP, fix the Hyperion please .

I just noticed another thing, is the station bigger? or the Hyper smaller? Flip between the two images to see what I mean.
And has anyone got a similar pair of images with another ship in a Gallente station?

Yeah, it's like it got closer to the circular pad thingy.
Well, I reinstalled my client with a fresh download and it didn't seem to change much other than finally fixing the HDR bloom and AA... no more white blotches on asteroid belts etc.
All my ships still look very compressed... Im fairly certain it wasnt *just* the Hyperion that got texture nerfed, it's just that it's the most obvious on such a large ship.
The Myrm, Mega, and even a little Catalyst I'm flying around looks rather bland compared to what it used to. :/ Same goes for other race's ships i've viewed.
No to mention the shadows follow suit and look horribly low res.. just look at the turret shadows on the new Hyperion graphic vs. the old.
Can we get an 'extreme' setting back please (for shadows, and maybe for textures this time :P)
The new 'high' is rather bland, despite the rest of the world finally having the new graphics.

It's because they dumbed down everything to mold both engines into the "premium lite" or w/e the hell its called. So the people with actual computers, not crank up 1800's machines, got shafted with lower quality textures, lighting, shadows, ect...
