I installed Network Probe 3.0 so I could watch the traffic loads. And of course, after I installed it, I haven't had any socket closed crashes. I don't know if it's just coincidence or what. I'm tempted to uninstall it just to see if eve crashes.

First off, I'm only posting on this thread since it seems that CCP is paying attention here. Since the latest patch, my socket closed problem has gotten worse. Eve is basically unplayable for me at this point. I can change skills but any attempt to fly around or do anything results in the error within the first 5 minutes.
CCP should consider this as a Category 1 bug. It causes a crash to desktop, which in most QA environments is unacceptable. When these types of issues are present, the development team should stop what they are currently working on and focus on the critical issues.
If STOL was public, I would quickly be dropping my account. It's a good thing Eve doesn't have much competition for this genre, or they would be seeing an economic impact with these types of issues.
In my 3+ years of playing before, I've never encountered this type of issue. It's very disappointing that the features and patches that attracted me to return to Eve are preventing me from playing.
Windows XP, SP3 2 Gig RAM Avast Wifi to Cable internet (comcast) (worked before, so don't even point at this)

I worked fine yesterday, 5.16.09. But today I couldn't last 5 minutes. The only difference I noticed is that yesterday there were around 34k peeps on. Today there were over 42k. Nothing has changed on my computer or network. So all indications are that it's definitely something on CCP's end. I'm going to continue to post my findings here.

Since the .2 patch, I've been getting the Socket Closed error around every 5 minutes. Didn't matter what time of day or how many peeps were on. I finally bit the bullet and bought a new wifi router (NetGear) and ditched the old DLink.
The good news is that I no longer get the socket errors. The bad news is that my system reboots if I try to use autopilot. Will the severe bugs ever end?
