wow, CCP are laying it on thick... I guess it makes sense then to have their GM's help Goons out so as to ensure that their PR stunt is a success. |

Glad to see our efforts in th CFC are helping Eve Online be a better place with more publicity. If only everyone cared so much about the game... Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

We got it, you guys in the CFC and goons care more about this game than anyone else on this planet. That is also why I think when mitanni talked about suicidal players he surely meant those in the CFC

I love it when people start throwing that one around. Like most people in my corp at least I work full time have a wife and kids and have a very full life outside Eve, its probably what makes us better at it tbh.
And yes, I dont see anyone else providing the kind of attention (OK not always good) that we do. At the end of the day alot of people join Eve because of things like this. What have you done to help make Eve bigger? Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

Help make eve bigger? I do not work for CCP OK! I am a consumer, a gamer and as long as eve entertains me I will play, when it does not I will stop.
You are free to neglect your kids in order to play virtual space ships taking orders by not just your CEO and Alliance leader but by Goons and their leaders working in essence a second job.
PS: This is the second reply you mention you got a job, do you ever work there? |

Was going to rant on how the BBC should be scrapped but as it's EVE related I'll stick with I'm glad CCP is getting coverage on the mainstream coverage as they deserve it for all the work they put in.

The BBC has run several EVE stories in the past couple of years; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8545268.stm for example.
Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

It's your job as the consumer to make EVE bigger, provide content and create the universe.
It's CCP's job to simply provide the tools for us to create the universe.
It's not rocket surgery. |

We are Eves advertising department, most of the advertising is done by "word of mouth", which in the case of a niche game like Eve is the best kind of advertising. CCP seem to run very few advertising campaigns on the scale of other game makers and TBH it's because they don't have to, by not wasting money on advertising to gamers in general they can afford to run events like fanfest.
Player shenanigans make headlines, both in the gaming media and in the mainstream media, you can't buy headlines you can only create them and this is where we, the playerbase excel and kick the collective arses of every other MMO out there. As an example, the OPs post specifically, the coverage by the BBC is fantastic, they are a news source that are well regarded internationally and imho are pretty unbiased, the only advertisements on the BBC are for their own products. You can't buy advertising space from them you have to create it by being newsworthy.
The gap between virtual and real worlds is shrinking, as the internet insinuates itself into everyday life the amount of people leaving "meatspace" temporarily and entering virtual worlds to go and shoot someone in the face, farm on facebook, raid in W0W, etc is increasing and headlines about events in virtual worlds will become more commonplace. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |
