Eternum Praetorian wrote:Only a week after the Jita burn, and it has already fizzled away into yesterdays news. I find CCPGÇÖs handling of this whole situation (regarding cyber bulling and the following GÇ£protestGÇ¥ for said idiots ban from the CSM) quite exceptional. If they had not publically stated GÇ£ **** yea this is going to be greatGÇ¥ we would still be hearing about all of this mess But because they did say that, everything returned to normal shortly after the quote-unquote GÇ£big eventGÇ¥. So much so that Jita seems untarnished atm, and there is barley a whisper condeming CCP's reputation atm. Win. What was supposed to be one of the biggest things in EVE memory is scarcely the topic of conversation anymore in game. IMO, CCP has learned allot from the whole GÇ£walking in stationsGÇ¥ fiasco, and if the Jita burn has taught us one thing, it is thisGǪ CCP seems to have hired better PR people. Homeostasis has returned to the game so quickly after what could have been a clusterfuck two times over. Thank you CCP for you excellent job with crowd control on this matter. For once, I can honestly say, CCP win.
Reading that mess makes my brain hurt, sorry bro but I guess I am not bright enough to "get it".
Here is what CCP needed to do when "Burn Jita" started, "GET THE **** OUT OF THE WAY!". It's a player event using in-game mechanics!
The only things they should have done is watch the Jita node like a hawk and reinforce it as necessary. Collect data, this is the best "Mass Testing" your going to get! Alert customer service they may want to prepare a "HTFU" reply to the people who lost something. Lastly, enjoy the free press. THE END!

Hold on, I think I can decipher this.
CCP masterfully used the Burn Jita event to deflect attention away from Mittanigate because they knew it would draw crazy amounts of attention and then fade out quickly.

I'm not quite sure what channel you're getting your news from, but my understanding was that burn Jita was always supposed to last a few days as the pre-game entertainment before hulkageddon kicked off. Which is what happened. As for epic, they almost killed 1 ship for each vote Mittens got, and he got a lot of votes. |

Trying to draw comparisons between an expansion that was conceived, built and deployed (badly) by CCP and a 2 day circle jerk in Jita created by the Goons is fail logic. Moonspeak indeed. |

I think overall the reason the event isn't as "Big" of a deal as some past events was the fact that nothing major negatively game changing happened that overall left everyone pissed of vexed over the event. The event was fun, servers didn't crash, a few bugs were found and hopefully fixed, and overall it was a positive experience for EVE, CCP, and a lot of players. (And a learning experience for those that were the source of the fun).
Was it as game changing as some people may have hoped? It doesn't look like it, but it did bring some change to the everyday same-o.
Comparing this to the Mittani deal... Ya, no idea what the real relation outside of it being hosted by him, it has no connection otherwise. If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

Considering it was an event stated to test CCP's current state, I surmise that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Hamshoe wrote:Well, I suppose if you recognized the pre-event hype from the human goonipede for the impotent rage it was that's probably true.
Me, I had high and came away quite disappointed. I suppose. It would have been fun if they actually blockaded Jita, rather than hold a week-end event. Anyway, the pre-event hype was more a result of the panicked cries of the Jita inhabitants than of the Goons GÇö they were the ones predicting the doom of EVE if a single system was shut down of a day or two. vOv
It was still memorable in the GÇ£having fun with lots of peopleGÇ¥ sense, but where the notion that it would have any lasting impact comes from, I have no idea. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Considering it was planned well ahead of the ban, it really doesn't have anything to do with the ban. We've even shown you the tweets from where it was announced at the beginning of march. Even if that was added to the mix after long the event had been presented, it did test CCP's current state, and fortunately it proved to yield the exact result that everyone (except the Jita carebears) expected: CCP did nothing GÇö it was as it should be.
That's not quite true; CCP monitored the event closely and gained some valuable technical data.

Yeah.
Nobody cares about goons "burning Jita"....mostly because you didn't do anything memorable. Oh look...goons made a big deal out of blowing up a few ships in a trade hub..you know, that thing that happens there everyday anyway. You guys really are running out of ideas for attention.
