Ahh the montly Jovian debate. The bottom line is that nobody knows when jovian will become playable, or even "IF" that will happen. Having jove frigs cost as much as BS's balances them out nicely though. --

From a practical standpoint, the Jovian race are the devs/GMs, so Joves won't become a playable race. This is not up for discussion.

What would you want a new race to do?
Maybe another shield tanking race? To balance out the fact that minmatar are half and half? Minmatar stats indicate they should be shield tankers. But some of their slot layouts just dont work well for shield tanking. 3 midslot rupture. 4 midslot phoon. Why does the phoon have enough midlsots to fit one invuln and an X-large booster after mwd and cap booster, and yet start with 2k more shields than armor?
But even then its likely that armor tankers are better for outright brawls. That is when the outright brawl hasn't gotten to the point where its 300 people out in sniper battleships with minimal tanks against 300 other people fit the same way.
I'm not sure about offensive weapons, stats, and style. But I'm pretty sure you could find something that the new race could do that wouldn't be exactly like one of the other ones. But I would rather just see more pirate faction ships, instead of one per combo per size class, and a little more rounded out battlcruiser and destroyer class of vessels. One more kind of tech two battlecruiser and one more tech one destroyer and a tech two varient.

I dunno who the sleepers are or anything, so if they conflict with what I'm going to suggest next, forgive me.
I say implement the original humans of Earth as a faction, even if it's just a non-playable, non-interactable faction. Just have a back story for them.
Would be teh awesomness to find the origins and see how amazingly advanced the humans of milky way are today. I mean, they invented space travel, and then EVE rebooted that level of advancement for the colonists, forcing them to live a couple thousand years and reinvent space travel, and I imagine a lot of time has past since as well. All this time humans of earth have theoretically had huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge advances.
Though they might be so advanced the hardly care at all about anything, they might be ascended to energy or something other high end scifi stuff. ------ Heart for isk, Balls for risk. |

Personaly i would love to fly under the mean rabbit.
Make them follow a storyline. There missions could be "coopmode" where if you run a sansha mission, you will have to deffend a invasion force against the amarr, so when you warp to misson spot you have to kill the player that are running kill the pirates in pirate invasion.
and here comes the flame carebear part, alow this in high sec to. so when someone is running a mission the person wount know if there is a player flying as NPC. would add alot to the entire mission system.
to avoid ganks missions are limitet to ship types. lvl 1`s frigs destroyers. lvl 2`s destroyers/cruisers. lvl3`s cruisers and battle cruisers. lvl4`s battle cruisers battleships.
If mission runner choose tech II ship, tech II shop will be alowed for sansha/npc pilot to.
This would require an entire rewamp of mission system, but would be cool....
oooh....when accepting a mission a timer of 5 min starts, in that time a "contract/mission briefing" will open and only if a faction player accepts within those 5 mins the mission runner will meet player.
faction players can only accept missions they have "standing" for so if they only can run lvl 1`s that is what they can accept...
I actualy think "ya ya with the whine from missions runners" that this would open eve again...

I can tell you didn't read it, because it describes how the Jovians won through better tactics and information as well as sowing confision in the amarrian ranks.
Also that was a while ago, how do we know the other empires haven't caught up with the Jove?
Anyways, it can still be balanced. No one complains about T2 ships being overpowered because they take longer to train, adn no one complains about faction ships because they are more expensive. If you make the advanced tech Jove ships more expensive and longer to train for then it does add some balance. If you could by two battleships of other races for the price of one Jove battleship, then it being one and a half times as powerful isn't as big of an advantage
That confisioning technique is just nasty.

Nah I like that they operate outside the playable aspect of the game where they can interfere with the storyline when CCP feels like it. Plus the last game I played where they introduced new races completely ruined it for me.

why do you want more races? you want to be a pretty elf princess? or maybe an ugly orc?
I would much rather CCP add other things, ambulation, fixing bugs, redoing Sov, than waste tiem on shyte like this.

All the dev chars got de-joved some time ago.
If you check (for example) TomB in game now he is a regular race, though I can't remember which one.
This was done about the time that everyone was collecting up little bits of mushed jove for some reason.
