Edited by: Nemesis Factor on 02/04/2009 04:28:38 I think we can all agree that the game Risk is THE greatest board game that your family can force you to sit down and play with them. However there are a couple of major flaws that keep this game from actually being fun. Namely:
1) It's not long enough. 2) It has nothing to do with Eve.
Luckily, we can solve there problems with one solution. Presenting EVE Offline Risk! Linkage Please don't post image directly into thread.Applebabe Now I know what your thinking: "Nemesis, you expect us to play Risk with the regions of Eve? But that doesn't solve problem 1! (see above)" Well using every constellation sure would. Or better yet, every solar system! Imagine a 3x4 meter print of the Eve Galaxy laid out on your table for months on end! Cluttered on this giant amalgamation of printer sheets are small plastic (or, I dunno, paper) pieces of frigates, cruisers and battleships representing your fleets. You might want to use pennies or something because crafting these pieces would take longer than the game.
Now I realize the resolution of my screenshot leaves much to be desired (because who doesn't want to play Risk for the rest of their lives?). I was planning on creating a collage of sorts from a few dozen shots, but that's work and not how I roll.
I hope someone who can chase down ridiculous goals can find time to do this for us. I totally would but I have to go make isk. I can't afford to sit around all day and think of awesome ideas! Speaking of which I am a huge sellout and might consider getting all these screens together if I get enough donations. Now I know what your thinking: "So the truth comes out! This is all a big play to get some isk in your wallet. I'm not fooled" Well your right. But the way I see it, even the smallest donations help. If every single player gives me 10 isk, I'll have 1000 isk in no time! I could buy a new...... I could buy some tritanium! No srsly giv meh monays. ~/~ Sultan of Buruni |

Do you mean Civ, the board game? The rules for that game are totally messed up. Therefore Diplomacy > Civ, however Twilight Imperium > all - it's freaking board game spaceships!
While EVE Risk is an interesting idea, it isn't worth it without a specific ruleset. ___________________________________ Always enjoy your virtual synthetic psychotropics in moderation. |

How about when you take a constelation, you have to wait a month and a half for sov 3 so you can defend your space, all the while your trying to out POS the goons in the constelation, and it becomes a war of how many poses you can deploy before your enemy deploys theirs, and your nightly going out on repping operations to try and keep your POS above 50% so you can restront and keep them up for just ONE MORE DAY. In the mean times, your stuck below the shields because a titan is about to DD you and you can't do **** because of lag........

long years ago the university of british columbia wargamers club had a bunch of risk maniacs in their membership. the largest risk game i saw played there involved i think it was 17 boards interlinked by wormholes and raided periodically by aliens who would land randomly and try to take over that map.

Came here to say this
/Did you know there's a new Axis and Allies out? They redid the map, new units, Italy is a side now, China is way more important and you get bonuses for holding certain combos of places.
