The Alliance Tournament is so close that I can aaalmost hear the explosions. Ok not quite that close but pretty close all the same!
CCP Loxy is here to tell us all about the rules for this year's biggest event in violent destruction! CCP Guard | EVE Community Developer |-á@ccp_guard |

Yes, as a result of last year's experiment and the reaction from the players we identified this as a must have. We will be streaming the qualifiers but it will be low key and simple, at this point we're not sure if there will even be commentary (thoughts?). Video Producer |

Kadesh Priestess wrote:Any ship rebalancing before the AT... please? How do you estimate chance of appearance on TQ of following things before AT starts:
1) Global ship rebalancing (like you already plan on frigates) 2) New modules (adaptive armor hardeners, fueled SBs, micro jump drive and so on) 3) Tracking disruptors disrupting missile damage
The Inferno expansion will have arrived well before the tournament bringing new modules and changes with it. The blog details some of the effects on the tournament and we will address any issues that come up due to the new modules ahead of time. Obviously this does mean there's a chance of confusion as modules may be disallowed as we see their effect, we will strive to keep all teams informed of any changes.
Kadesh Priestess wrote:Also, will top 4 teams from previous AT skip pre-qualifiers (like on AT IX)?
In the past we have invited the top teams from the previous tournament directly, bypassing the qualifying stage to guarantee we have some of the best and most respected teams fighting in the final weekend. We have made the specific decision this year not to do this. All teams must go through the same process. Video Producer |

That said: would it be technically possible to allow 3rd parties like Eve Radio or New Eden Radio to comment (from the comfort of the commentator's own home)? So you'd send the video signal to the commentators, they rebroadcast (either to you or to the internet) with their commentary?
Perhaps if either station would like to do a special show and commentary we could embed their player below our video player and viewers could simply play both from the same page (choosing the audio they wanted to hear if there's more then one station)?
The neater solution of course being a flash player that had multiple audio selection. Video Producer |

"3. All competing pilots must have been members of the alliance for which they are competing for from the date that signups close. For Alliance Tournament 10 this means that pilots must have been a member of their alliance before downtime on May, 05, 2012."
We don't even know how to sign up, and you wrote you would be announcing that next week ?
- Riv
Yes a typo or rather a mistake from multiple drafts, it's now been fixed in the blog and all members of a team must be in their alliance by downtime on May 5th. Video Producer |

Cutout Man wrote:I love how you guys don't permit B or C teams, but then setup the tournament in such a way that you guarantee that exactly that will happen. All anyone has to do is drop their selected B and C team members out of their alliance and into an alt alliance by May 5th. Nothing CCP does or says will be able to prove that those alt alliances are alts. Nothing. You have created a system that forces you to declare something you can't really prove or to ignore it, making the rules pointless. You guys have a gift for setting up stuff so that cheating is inevitable.
Let's see how that works out for teams trying this.

There's no support for that on YouTube and I doubt we could get the time to work on the flash player to support it, sorry to get your hopes up. We're also looking into our streaming solutions this year so I really cant say anything for certain right now. Video Producer |

The neater solution of course being a flash player that had multiple audio selection. Any of that is awesome - assuming you can get the video and audio to sync up to a reasonable degree (it doesn't have to be perfect but a 10 second delay is probably too much, for example).
Since warping is not allowed within the arena it would be the case that this module would be banned. The tournament referees will make a call on this closer to the time CCP Navigator -Community Manager |

I'd assume it'd be allowed as it's supposed to be an untargetted jump 100km straight forward with a long activation. Considering the arena is 250km across and you can't really stop moving, it sounds like a very risky and exciting module to gamble on.
Besides the balance issues it would play havoc with the camera clients keeping locks on targets. Video Producer |

As both sides of our little community plan on entering a team this year. Loxy. RvB would really appreciate an answer on this. Will the B & C team thing affect us or are we golden to enter both sides of our community? Loxy Since your ignoring this I'll also ask, are we fine as we are entering both the Red Federation and the Blue Republic or do we need to create a new single RvB alliance? o7 Drac
I wasn't ignoring it, I'd raised it with the rest of the team and was waiting for a consensus (as well as heading home for the night and grabbing food).
We recognise the particular situation of RvB and we will accept entries by both these alliances as normal. As this could be seen as an exception to the b&c team rule we'd like to reiterate the new position on matches:
- For Alliance Tournament X the referees can call a match null and void or declare a result if they believe that one of the teams is not competing. This tournament is designed to showcase the talents of pilots and should be entertaining.

Would other teams with similar specific concerns be able to contact you via some official channel to discuss it?
Yes you can contact us at [email protected] if anyone would like to discuss an alliance entry ahead of time. Video Producer |

Not getting a direct pass over quali sounds fair and all, but does top 4 get spot in the qualis at least, or do you intend to put Darkside, Razor, Outbreak and HYDRA into the hat with the chance of having best teams out of the entire tournament, with the winners unable to defend their championship? I realize there is the auction also, but it is only limited places and who ends up getting the ticket that way is uncertain, especially if you add 4 more teams to the race for the tickets. Anyway, looking foward to AT10, hopefully we get the chance to defend our gold.
Everyone goes into the hat & the much larger auction system which we will post the details of in the next few days. There's never a perfect solution for this but we believe we have the best chance of getting in all the major teams and those that really want a place. Video Producer |
