Edited by: Gabriel Karade on 23/08/2004 12:51:32 If I lock an object and use dual MWD's to move hundreds of KmĘs away I still have it locked. Conversely if I am locked and MWD hundreds of KmĘs away I'm still locked and can't for example cloak.
Surely moving outside of a ships maximum targeting range should break a lock (either way). Is this a bug or is it something which simply canĘt be resolved?

Good morning,
Umm as i understand it (and have tested myself) it is a bit of a bug (or a feature depending on your point of view). It hasnt been changed (probably) because it doesnt give any serious advantages/disadvantages. As i understand it, the lock will remain, but it doesnt mean much because if you try to use modules on something out of your lock range the lock will break.
Cloaking is another matter, i dont have the money to test it on TQ, and dont have the time to test it on entropy/chaos. If you want it corrected, i would suggest you post on the "patch review" forum, most of the bug related stuff goes there. You could even get a friend to help you experiment, log the experiment and do a bug report (they like it when you send logs with the bug report).
Hope this helps, have a good day!
p.s. i have no idea what tools devs use for loggin now-a-days, i think its mentioned in the patch review forum though.

ThatĘs dammed annoying, but thanks for the clarification. I think I will do a little 'experiment' and post the results on the patch review forum (\_/) (O.o) (> <) "That's no ordinary rabbit!...that's the most foul, cruel and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on" |
