Industrial corps who are located in HiSec can't perform reactions. This is detrimental to T2/T3 production. If it's a matter of empires not wanting them in controlled space, can't they just demand charters for each. I can understand how biochemical reactors producing contraband would not be allowed by customs, but component producing reactors can hardly be considered dangerous to the security of empire space. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

Up from page 3.
Surely someone has something to say about this? ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

It's about game design and not ingame fluff.
Low sec is allready not very appealing. I't a good thing that at least one step has to be done in low sec / 0.0. Want to have a piece of that cake? Go put up a low sec POS. Other than that buy the stuff from corps which take the risks and logistics of low sec POSes.

I like the idea!
Make all except Bichemical Reactors possible to use in Hisec, with restrictions:
1. Manufacturing time penalty 2. Manufacturing material input penalty 3. Anchoring skill recuirement penalty 4. Maybe also a wearing of Reactions Blueprints
No moon mining though. Materials must be bought from market.
This would make manufacturing of Advanced Materials more competitive!

Actually, I think it would remove all risk from the reaction process, and therefore, make it a pointless activity. It would end up being just another step that has to be done just because it has to be done. With no risk, the activity has no value, and therefore, is just a time sink. In the current state of things, there IS a risk in running reactions, and as such, those who choose to do so can charge a fee for the service. The only way hisec reactions should be possible would be with a high-sec only reactor, that had serious penalties, but then, as it would be so inefficient, it still wouldn't be used.

Use a wormhole
plenty of those in highsec and large POSs are too big for people to bother trying to kill them usually.

it comes down to risk verse reward, with a hi sec reactor and associated POS you could carry out all the tech 2 production steps yourself except buying the raw materials from the market.
Its CCP's way of trying to get players into low sec to keep the pirates happy. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |
