I recently moved to a corp which resides in 0.0, with Gurista rats. I fly an Apoc with T1 Pulses and I am doing next to nothing to the rats. I do not want to cross-train. Any good fittings?

The apoc is terrible against guris no matter what you'll fit.
If you absolutely want to use lasers, you'll want as much gank and non em damage you can get. That means a geddon with 3 heat sinks and therm/kin drones.
If you want to stay amarr but don't mind training missiles get yourself into a sacrilege and enjoy your kinetic damage.

Amarr sucks vs gurista, really nothing you can do, even a high skilled char with 2 heatsinks and scorch L takes abit of time to burn em down'
Use an armageddon with kinetic heavies

Should I just cross train a Dominix for ratting?
Here is my skill sheet: http://eve-sheet.com/skills/Sin_Cleaner
I can get to Gallente BS 3 in about a week. My drone skills will be a bit lacking.
Which drone skills should I train first? Do you think this would be a good choice?

A tachyon paladin/nightmare has very little problems in dealing with guristas. of course the jamming sucks but that pretty much gets everyone but a drone user.
cheaper solution is an abaddon with 8 megabeams. or 7 tachyons and a rcu II.

I would train up for Dominix.
Heavy drone to 3 Drone interfacing 4 Drone Nav/sharpshoot 4 (optional really)
Train up large hybrid 3 before drone interfacing 4 imo and put on 3-4 350mm rails (probably want 3rails, 1salv, 1tractor, 1 drone link). Waste to not take advantage of all your gunnery skills (without guns your dps is going to be not much more than 200 with those drone skills btw).

You've got all the skills for a Sacrilege. Just train up Missiles a bit and you should be okay in a Sacrilege with Kinetic HAMs. BECAUSE OF FALCON! |

Apoc has no ship bonuses to damage or rate of fire.
The Abaddon is +5%/lvl damage.
Even my low skills and gurista melt.
- Abbadon + 5% damage/lvl - Faction ammo +20% damage - Heat sinks (Ammarr/True Sansha both good, T2 cheaper and almost as good if have skills) give more damage + increase rate of fire. - Pulse weapons are more dps than longer range lasers - Mega Modulated named lasers give more dps than other T1 gear (faction very expensive) and low fitting required. - Train up your drone range so they can help your guns. Few ships orbit further away than 50km, so 50+ base range is great (I have 54km). - can run a support char. A dom with drone support quick to train and can add good support. - may need to ab closer to get better range if not killing at range.
Of course some of that gear is not cheap. Depends how often you lose your ship and how much you want to spend equiping it. If you can't afford to lose the stuff, maybe hunt lvl 4 missions in high sec till your skills improve?
I dont have T2 lasers, but with the above even low skills the Gurista melt. I only have large laser 4. A couple of week old char doing the above melts even Gurista battleships.
I find a better ship for low sec gurista hunting is the T2 Zealot, is cheaper and easier to get into T2 weaps. Fully kitted a zealot can push out around 600 dps. Its not quite an Abaddon, but it aint bad either.

Abaddon with 8x T2 megapulses eats them decently enough along with everything else, even angels which are absolute worst case scenario for energy weapons. Just get another 5M SP of gunnery, should solve most of your problems .

lol
gurista is therm kin, other words as amarr you should still do enough dmg. just dont expect them to die as fast as shansa and bloods.
if there where angels you would have a point.
some tips: drones therm kin/ choose the right crystals/ skill a bit more up.

Alright, I'll spend the next 3 months in a station waiting for my skills to level up, and I'll have no cash either. Good thinking :/ |

so you do want to cross train ?

er. . isnt an abbadon an amarr ship and is an enhancement of your current skillset and wouldnt involve cross training or sitting in a station training gallente BS or improving drone skills ?
Originally by: Sin Cleaner Don't want to skill up missiles for a Sacrilege.
again isnt this an amarr ship :/
your OP was perfectly answered with 2 replies yet you still completely ignored the best advice.
if you want instant perfection against guristas then you might consider a raven as caldari are their racial enemy. also have some ECCM as guristas jam. you could also try a sleipnir as you can easily switch damage types with projectile ammo.
if that still doesnt work and you still want the instant gratification then you could always buy a character pre speced for guristas.
alternativly sacrilidge/abaddon and a better level(s) in gunnery would be my first recomendation :/

Edited by: Mr Reeth on 05/04/2009 21:38:37 Amarr are fine for fighting guristas, that's why Amarr agents give gurista missions. You don't need to train missiles or another race.
Guristas are shield tankers that are vulnerable to kin/therm.
Take a look at the stats of laser crystals. You'll see base shield and base armor damage. Lasers do a lot more damage vs shields than armor... this is very good against guristas.
You'll also notice that the longer the range ammo you use the less thermal damage is done, radio doing 0 thermal damage. So using multifrequency crystals are the best option... don't use radio or scortch. Guristas however tend to fight at long range often going out to 60km. This can be problematic as you want to be close and they want to be far.
What you want to do is either push your range or push your speed... or a little of both.
If you use an apoc throw on a tracking comp or two with range scripts and an AB. The TCs coupled with the apocs range bonus means you will be able to use your short range ammo to evaporate the guristas shields.
If you use an Armageddon fit the same way as an apoc but you may want to use thermal or kinetic sentries or heavy drones.
If you fit a Paladin or Abaddon fit tachs.
Just remember the challenge of guristas is controlling range so you can do as much thermal damage as possible.
And dont forget those drones!

Months ago with Large Laser 3, 2x T1 named heat sinks, burned into range of my multifreq amarr crystals, Abaddon (lvl 3 batleship trained), 5x med T1 drones supporting and a 1.4 mil Gurista Battleship took only 86 secs to kill. I still have the piece of paper I was noting stuff on from back then (were 1.4+ mil bounties from lvl 3 Kidnappers 10/10 storyline - Gurista version).
Now thats pathetic skills, and still melts Gurista fairly easy. I now have lvl 4's for those skill but haven't timed killing a similar ship since.
Better skills will kill faster. Even a couple of weeks old character flying a battleship shouldn't have problems melting Gurista battleships if you follow the above advice.
