Hahahahaha.. ahhahahaha.. ahahhahah.
No.
Originally by: Eri Chell And im talking about the sub-effect within the effect itself.
So was I. Red/blue shift has always been part of the warp effect. Apocrypha tries to re implement it with the new warp effect and fails massively, which is why I find it both hilarious and disturbing that you'd pick now of all times to praise it. That, and it's been removed from the new (third) warp effect.
So once again, WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

Originally by: Eri Chell I like how CCP added shift in wavelengths into the new warp effects, makes it realistic and makes for more immersion. If you notice, the tunnel ahead of you is blue, where as the tunnel behind is red.
If you dont know light comming towards you will appear blue and red as light moving away. Its the same principal scientists use to tell if something in space is moving away or comming towards us.
REALLY COOL CCP thanks!!!
Tunnel ahead blue, behind red? I seen this before, think a dev been watching dr who.
Blue tunnel = Forwards Timetravel Red Tunnel = Backwards Timetravel

Yes. It's been there for as long as I have been playing.

Originally by: Regi Rain Here is why your would not get the Red/Blue shift - when you move faster than the wave that you are trying to look at.
Faster than light movement Linkage
In essence the light that comes from the oposite direction in regards to the light thats behind you - would no be able to reach you - even if you take a relativistic time dialiation into consideration - /me points to their own(CCP) article on how FTL speed works in eve.
In the same way that the "sound" you hear in space, is just your POD rendering audio input to go into your ear, to help make sense of the space around you... the "light" that you see when warping is merely the POD rendering what it reckons space would look like, in order to avoid disorientating you.
This explains why it looks like your warping through large 3d objects, aswell as all issues relating to doppler shift, etc.

I love the new improved warp effect when you're in a pod.
You're actually warping at a 90 degree angle to where you said to warp. Well, the warp tunnel is at a 90 degree angle to the direction you said to warp.
It's amazing. ----------

I dont think anyone stuck there head out like that going 480km/h and shared there experiance. One problem i see here is a bad case of "head breaking off at the neck" syndrome

The thing which infuriates me the most about this effect is the way it dissipates WAYYY too soon.
Its been a standing complain since the very first apocrypha edition on Sisi. This must be another one of those "CCP listens but disagrees" complaints.

yeah, and its still does that on sisi too, even with the new pwetty warp effects ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

Yes! I find leaning to left while warping in my pod straightens things out.

Edited by: Dr Resheph on 06/04/2009 19:20:20 The reason you haven't noticed it is because subtle things are lost on you. In the original warp effect the blue and red shift was an actual color change. In the new Apocrypha one its just a blue semi-transparent texture overlay.
Anyone who uses Photoshop will know the difference between the two. As a result the new blue shift looks incredibly cheesy, because it doesn't actually change the underlying space background colors. Not the apocrypha, nor the apocrypha 1.1 warp effects come close to matching the old one. The same could be said for the stasis webifier effect.

Here's another one I found. It has some filters applied, but that makes it easier to see the blue shift in what is a brown system. The middle is a star, then around it you can see the blue, and then in the top middle above the lens flare you can see the background turning purplish from the mix before going back to brown.

…and as mentioned, notice how these are actually shifts in colour rather than some non-descript blobs of semi-tranparent paint that have been splashed at the respective ends of the warp tunnel. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |
