Tac shields is close to be a module that you "need" rather than want. Without Tac shield you will be close to worthless in battle.
We tried playing with the 40% to all resist tac shield on one another. And 3 of them at the same time aswell. Basicly with 2 on you get very little damage. Add projectile to this. And you will win anytime. To get hit for 30-40 with anode ion blaster instead of 230-250 shows it.
Cruisers can only hold 1 or 2 active all time. With 3 is go down in cap after 40-50sec in a Thorax.
But now add this to a battleship aswell as tech V maybe, they add 80% each.
Rough senario: Battleship 1 shots with 4x1000dmg weapons to Battleship 2. Battleship 2 got 3 80% resist tac shields running 24/7 and will be hit for 32dmg. So will we get "immune" battleships. And a "you need this or you always die" module?
The calculation is even made with a 0/0/0/0 resist base shield.
The single resists versions at tech V gives 90% resist. I donŠt mind the single versions so much. Since they require you to know the damagetype of your enemy. But the multi is abit too good.

I'm aware of the current 40% only. But the Tech V version is 80%
So if we look abit ahead we will see the 80% versions. Look for module details here: http://www.tti-nexus.com/evedb/menu.html
But 40% resist to all damage for fairly small amount. The armour mods are not even considered used. Just replace with 1 tac shield.
I'm just looking abit ahead. The nerf on weapons mod didnŠt resolve the same problem we will get in the future :/

I know battles should last longer than the 10secs it takes me to tear apart the first cruiser in the line. But if we need to dish out 16000dmg each 2sec to kill a battleship within 5mins is abit off if a medium shield booster is added.
ItŠs precisely like the damagemods that gave you 20x damage. Same thing, just with resists.

1750dmg is nothing. You can hardly see any damage to the shield. 1750dmg is 14 shield damage. It regenerate faster than you can damage it. So with 8 guns you will do 112damage each 3 sec. If shield didnŠt recharge and no booster may be used or anything. Then you need 2min+ to kill a normal battleship. But a shield booster added and shield recharge. It could be impossible if the person is skilled and got the rioght loadout. Then you would need several battleships to even have a chance to harm it.

The extreme long battles these will make. Will ofcause also make drones and missiles worthless again. Unless you have 500 drones and 10000 missiles or so.

Not as tech 1 no. But as Tech 5 its 80% and 90% and they are in the ingame databse. just not activated.

Better player have nothing to do with modules. MWD became a must have item. You would be worthless in battle. You could always run away etc. Problem is the multispectral versions will be standard equipment. Not if you like to have it. But you need to have it. And projectiles donŠt hurt your cap.
You will never be able to beat me 1v1 if you donŠt have a few, ever.

I can hold 2 multispectrals active 24/7 with my loadout on my Thorax. I bet a Battleship with 4-5x more cap and more slots to support the cap needed can hold the doubble amount needed for 3 tech V multispectrals. Add projectiles and a shieldbooster maybe. And you canŠt die, but still kill.
Its basicly like the weapon mod nerf. Its like peeing in your pants. beacuse the higher lvl weapon mods and 7-8 lowslots on a battleship will ruin the nerf and need a renerf.
Currently we are spinning around in a negative feedback cyclus instead of fixing the long term problems.
Try think about who uses armour upgrades. Armarr was intented too..but do they use them? And Armour upgrades/resists are utterly weak compared to tac shields.

SlightlyMad, remember even 16000dmg would hardly be noticed on your battleship shields after passing the tac shields ;)
