Edited by: Chith on 25/08/2004 16:50:54 Here is the lowdown on the differences between each cloaking module, broken down as:
prototype/improved/covert
Base time to have targeting systems come online after cloaking (cloaking improves this by 10% per level): 30/20/10
Base CPU required (covert ops skill improves this for covert -- every level of covert ops skill essentially gives you another 100 cpu): 30/60/5000
How fast you can fly while cloaked as a percentage of your normal "Cruising" speed:
10%/25%/100%
How much your scanner resolution is INCREASED while the module is fitted (50% means the time required to target things would be much much worse)
50%/40%/0%
How much in millions each one approximately costs on market right about now:
11/55/94
Thats about it. Otherwise, all 3 operate exactly the same, with the exception that you can warp while cloaked with the covert version. You cannot be within 2k of any object whatsoever while cloaked, and you cannot use any modules at all while cloaked. --- The Tarsis Shriners |

Originally by: Jellybaby When I cloak with a proto cloak after I deactivate it once selecting BM I want I still have to wait the average warp time for that ship ? is there something I am doing wrong or is my timing off ?
align for warp whilst still cloaked, then when you uncloak you will be moving full speed and in the rough direction so you can go to warp quicker.

Came across an apoc with a cloak a few days ago.....don't ask.
Another downside of a cloak is afaik you can't go into cloak if you're being locked. It's irrelevant whether they've actually locked you or not, just as long as they're in the process of doing so. Killed a Helios 2/3 days ago in my Incursus because of this - just a shame it's covert cloaking device II got destroyed, it's never nice to see 120mil evaporate :/
that sucks, I think that covert claoks at least should work that you can cloak even though someone is in the process of targeting you, just not be able as long as a lock has been established
like now they are rather useless for most things if they see you
