Originally by: XXSketchxx After all the anomalies, radars, ladars, and mags are exhausted, I mine arkonor and bistot in my corp's little WH system. That stuff piles up and we really do not want to transport it out via haulers or an orca. Thus, while the waste is annoying, refining arrays do find a purpose here.
You still get grav sites out there? Lucky you. Havent seen one for a week. Before patch they where all over the place.

They didn't reduce the amount of ore total, they just merged the dozens of sites into many many fewer with all the ore that used to be spread across them now in very very large roids. Which is a huge boost to the grav sites, as well as a big boost to being able to find other sites / wormholes etc.

Yeah, about 50% of the time we've been gravless. I don't know whether to take this as a blessing or a curse.
On one hand, if there's no roids, they can't mine them and I can't fall further behind.
On the other hand, we also had a drought of sites. Literally we had 10 sites in 48hrs, but 5 were WHs the other were anomalies. We had a lot of bored people for 2 days.
I still stand by my case of needing refineries that work while I sleep. Giant bins that churn out the same m3 of ore per hour but I don't need to activate the damn things.

Efficiency is not the biggest problem it's their crazy slow refining, limited space and enormus cpu use.
If you want to mine in null/wh you would need 1 large pos for every hulk just to fit the refinery and keeping up with mining speeds.
They need to be changed to somthing worth using , atm they prevent small alliances/corps from trying to live in 0 sec. Wormholes are worthless to mine due to respawn times of sites and logistics of the ore, it is tons easier just mine in highsec with less risk and about the same income from ores.
At the very least the cpu usage needs to be dropped dramatically, this I think pretty much everyone can agree on.

I have to agree with Mr. Ra. Being able to fit only 1 med intensive array at a medium POS is rediculous. And again, I have to pound the point in, lack of automation is even more rediculous.
Yes, I am aware that ice can be refined fairly fast compared to how it's mined. But that can't be the only use for the arrays.

Its kind of odd that you cant mix ore types during a refining job like you can at a station. It is in fact so restricted that say, scordite, compressed scordite and massive scordite are recognized as 3 separate ore types.

They really do need an overhaul. I dont really see why it couldn't be instant. They already have a high waste level so why not just make em instantaneous.

I agree with this. Is it not the same technology as used in stations(instant)? The penalty on using them is the refined amount, why have a penalty for time, type, and quantity too. Seems, harsh, but I don't use them anymore. Seems I hardly did. Anyone want to buy one from me?

I agree, having 4 penalties hardly seems fair. I'd even be ok with waiting a little bit if I can put all my ore in at once.
