I've downloaded the latest drivers from ATI and i've even tryed a older driver version and still VPU problems?
Second problem! FATAL ERROR'S!!?? now i'm not a computer wiz but when this window pops up and says that i know something is seriuosly wrong not only that but either my game will freeze up or restart itself? once my computer reboots a window pops up statiing something like "there was a unexpected shutdown because there was a serious problem with (a bunch of numbers would go here)
this topic doesn't entirely involve Eve-Online cause this happens with all my highly demanding memory,CPU and Video sucking games (DOOM III, HitMan: Contracts and Eve-Online)
heres my system specs:
P4 3.2ghz 800mhz L2 Cache 1024mb Dual DDR4 Corsair Pro's w/heat shield and LED 120gb HD Western Digital 7200 rpm 8mb Cache MSI Neo-2 Platium Edition mobo ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256mb DDR 8x AGP 6.1 onboard surround sound

i've got Ad-aware 6.0, Zone Alarms Pro, Norton Antivirus 2003 and Spybot Search and Destroy. I've got 3 firewalls includeing the one on my Lan line. i have no viruses m8, but thx anyways
i'm just wondering if its because the Video card is so new that most games don't support it yet? that and the right driver hasn't come out yet that will fix these problems.
Also i'm waiting on the Windows XP SP2 to come out. hopeing that will fix most of the problems

Sounds a lot like heat problems to me... Try lowering the heat in your case a bit (a large tablemodel fan blowing into your case might temporarily help).
A possible diagnostic thing to do might be to lower the clock on that card (i know, that's not what you bought it for, just for testing).
If any of that helps, look for more permanent heat-dissipation solutions. More fans, or if it's already "loud", think of a simple watercooling solution (CPU and Radeon). Cool 'n quiet :) ---------------------------------- You won't like me when I'm angry... |

i did check out this site and there is ALOT! of good info but i'm affraid nothing is working i suggest to everyone if your planning on buying the ATI X800? DON'T ITS CRAP! i can't even play StarCraft: Brood Wars without my system crashing
Also the only suggestion the Tech on rage3d.com could give me was to try changeing my AGP speed to 4x instead of 8x, of course this didn't work either so i'm only left with one choice, send my x800 back and get the brand i've always trusted "NVIDIA" thanks for all your help people, greatly appreciated.

I've had an X800 Pro for about a week now and I'm rather impressed.
I had major CTD issues and the card did not fix them, I still can't play EVE for longer than 5-10 mins at the most, sometimes 30 seconds worth. So the old Geforce 4 was not the problem.
EVE is the only game I have a problem with, everything else is great and it all started with the last patch, has to be beacause I've tried everything else.
If things are that bad it's possible you got a dodgey card, mine seems to run great.
Vas.

ok i have done a Memory Diagnostic check from Microsoft on my computer.
after 17hours of the test running it kept showing "LRAND" Failed! on almost every Test pass?!
Now i have no idea whay LRAND is but it can't be good if its failing! right?
I didn't let the Diagnostic test complete, cause like i said it had been running for ove 17 hours how long is this suppose to take?
any info would be great thx ------------------------------------------------ A Plague is comming.... |

I have the ati x800 card... best card out there. I also had the vpu error. I called ati service support and told me to get the latest driver for the card. I did and I never had a problem since. try that. ------------------- Ashraem "Xarix" M'Kai PvP Division Carbide Industries

Edited by: Aretheus on 09/09/2004 09:35:02 Sounds like one of two problems:
A) Your computer is overclocked but not stable. up voltages/loosen timings or lower clocking.
or
B) You have a poor PSU and it cant handle the guzzling of your gfx card. I had this with a 9800pro, upgraded to a 460W enermax PSU and i can overclock my computer to hell and back and stuck in a 6800gt and its perfectly stable voltage wise.
If you can run memtest86 and prime95 and also run a 3dmark programmme. (3dmark03 is probably best, its graphic intensive) and if it crashes at any point, then your system is unstable either due to overclocking or voltages.
are your voltages stable? I dont care if youve a 600W psu, if its a no-brand psu its most likely it cant hold all your voltage rails at the right level once the graphics card kicks in.

I had a lot of problems for myself over the last past days but nothing like this but i can tell you what i heard about causing problems... You said your graphic card ist running on 8x AGP....i heard, that this may be to fast so maybe you want to try it 4x AGP... Maybe its a Problem with the 4in1 driver if you have a VIA chipset onboard...did you update this ? Espacially if you are running with 8x AGP and having problems with other games too ! Just some ideas...i cant really say if they help...but maybe its woth a try ;)
