So the British Army uses what ammo calibre in these rifles then?

As a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 @ 2 with the 82nd airborne infantry, I find this to be offensive. I served with men and women that lost their lives and limbs in combat. These men (and women for non infantry) would not want their sacrifice exploited in a video game so that a few people who think because they served they are entitled special rights. Your post and idea in general is disrespectful to the majority of service men and women who dont go around looking for special treatment in everything they do.

There is a big difference between womens groups and playing on the sympathy people have for disabled veterans. I dont agree with it for the reasons already stated, thats my opinion and I am entitled to it, if you dont agree, you are entitled to yours as well.

I open my house over holidays to members of my brother's group who are home and can't see their families due to distance. I put them up, feed them, give them the run of my Cable (Internet and TV), my vehicles, pool, whatever they want that they would normally have enjoyed with their families.
This is what I do for our vets. Setting you blue feels like pitching a handful of quarters into the street in front of a vet who's begging for bus fare to get home on.

Edited by: Eizmund Drohner on 09/04/2009 21:39:41 Apokolypse - I too served 2 seperate Deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom and have seen plenty of things that I will not discuss. This entire post is by no means meant to "exploit" veterans. It is simply to create a high-sec based community that can help fellow military members who wish to try out the game of eve and in doing so - cater to those military members - both active and retired who suffer disabilities both physical and mental due to their time in the military. We are not looking to try and gain "special" privledges from the corporations that we are asking assistance from nor are we telling them they must join us or they're wrong. We're simply attempting to create the EVE Onlne equivalent of a US Legion Post. If you personally think that the concept of a Legion Post is immoral, disgusting and wrong, then that is your own oppinion and you are entitled to it. It is those exact same posts however that help out their local troops just as we are trying to do here. ------------------------------------------------

Quote: By creating a network of neutral corporations and pilots who have agreed not to bother the MMC's members in low-security and 0.0 systems these veterans can take the extra minute or two they need, due to their disabilities, to get them from point A to B. Non-aggression pacts have also been used as a show of respect to the members of the MMC as a way of saying "we thank you for your service".
You are lying. Also way to beg for sympathy and credit about your real life issues in a video game. This is supposed to be for escapism not part of your VA benefits package.

maybe that would be a good comparison if the legions asked for their stuff for free instead of paying for it like everybody else are you just naturally unable to make comparisons or did your reasoning ability get blown off by an ied

There is no difference between women groups playing sympathy, special status card and a disabled or veteran group, same thing. So why is people give veteran group a hard time but no one ever give womens group hard time? let the veterans alone, help them out.

Fact of the matter is, if they really want to be highsec-based and neutral, they don't NEED nap's with anybody, least of all 0.0 space holding alliances. The goons in this thread are right. The guy's playing the "Iraq War Vet" card to try and get a free pass in a video game. I don't think my old man at Ft. Gordon would approve. vOv

I'm kind of in minor shock here that I'm agreeing with Goons, but I have to say even though their wording is harsh, they're right.
People make a choice to play Eve, it's their own decision, and they do so knowing they'll be competing against a broad scope of players from all walks of life, some of whom will be able bodied and mentally sound, and some of whom won't be.
I've heard of people playing Eve with one arm, missing fingers, people playing with motor neurone syndome, down's syndrome, asperger's syndrome and all sorts of mental and social disorders. I suffer from one on the most volatile forms of BiPolar disorder known, myself. That makes life as a CEO pretty difficult at times.
I still remember a conversation between two guys in a well known alliance, that I heard of. It holds water in relation to this topic :
FC > Why aren't you on vent? FC > Get on vent when you're in a fleet. GANG MEMBER > Yeah, OK, 2 secs. I have to install it.
Gang member logs into Vent, several minutes pass...
FC > Why aren't you speaking on Vent? FC > I'm talking to you! GANG MEMBER > I'm deaf, you idiot. FC > Then learn to type faster.
While I'm perfectly fine with any social group teaming up in Eve because of like minded goals and enjoyment of being with people similar to them, I don't feel that ANYONE should have preferential treatment.
Before anyone feels the need to have a go, know that I'm both a fundraiser for the NSPCC, and an advocate and fundraiser for Help for Heroes, despite not agreeing with the reasoning for our country having troops in the middle east.
Just about every day in the UK you hear news stories of young men and women coming home with their limbs blown off who're learning to walk, go back to work, and live normal lives on prosthetics. Some of them are gearing up to run MARATHONS just over a year after they've lost their legs in service.
At first I thought "hey, that's a pretty good idea", but after some thought and reading the responses here I see people's point and see this as a weak attempt at gaining positive standings through manipulation of emotion if I'm perfectly honest.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice idea, but you'd have been much better off just opening the corp, advertising for members and providing help for people who're ex-servicemen to get into the game and enjoy it to the fullest.

Edited by: Uzec on 09/04/2009 23:31:00 I support your alliance in its' efforts for war vets. I think the people in this thread trolling the op when decent men have lost their lives fighting for their cause is a disgrace and you people make me sick. Have you no sense of decency or honor?
I lost my brother during 9/11 attacks. He was on one of the planes that hit the towers. I also lost a cousin during the fighting in Fallujah in Iraq. They were both heros. My cousin in his last stand was believed to have taken out 9 infidel soldiers and an infidel medic before he was killed by a helicopter. They are sitting up there with allah in the promised land with their 47 virgins sippin' mojitos. Allah Akbar.

My apologies - at the time of writing that statement I was on vicodin and relatively stressed at the job site. Since your likely to try and burn me personally for the above statement, in my defense it is currently prescribed to me for my broken hand. Regardless, Kurik Chryllos is actually partially correct in his statment as, yes actually i was in a plane on both tours. My AFSC is a 1A3 (Airborne Comm.),as such my time spent there was served for the most part onboard an aircraft. So once again I do apologize for the mistake made above and I do agree that the 5.56 is the military's standard "issue" - that is unless your aircrew.
Regardless - we never meant for this idea to become such a heated topic, nor did we mean to create any sort of hostility here. It is for that reason that we are shutting down any and all efforts to try this idea in eve. Those that have created NAP's are welcome to uphold them with us, and we are thankful for your support, however we have now decided to shut down actively seeking them. This post has shown us that actively seeking these may not be in the best interest of our current or future memberbase. - To that end thank you for showing us another side of what we were trying to initiate.
