Pirate Ledger v1.0b (Pirate killboard)
Requirements: MySQL 5+ PHP 5+ (with GD extension loaded)
Reason: When leading a pirate corporation its always a major pain in the ass to figure out who killed what and how much loot everyone is entitled to. The main idea behind this ledger is that ALL captured loot from ALL kills is put into a loot hangar in the corporations hangar. Then the loot is tracked via the ledger. At the end of a week/day or a particulaly good few hours you can then collect the loot from the hangar and sell it on. Then use the ledger as a guide to decide how much ISK everyone is to be paid out. Once the payments are made the balances can be wiped from the ledger. All prices on the ledger can be updated to reflect current market values. There is an inbuilt corporation tax added in the admin section to offset loot 'mislaid' or not recovered from a kill. There is also the option of adding pilots to kills that do not appear on the killmail. This is to be fair to scouts or squad members that missed a juicy target.
Features: 1). Tracks the price of all EVE Online items. 2). Tracks the price of all dropped loot/items and splits it amongst the kill squad. 3). Offers a convenient way of tracking how much needs to be paid to each killer. 4). Tracks all members' kills and losses. 5). Uses EVE Central to get updated prices for items. 6). Provides ranking statistics. 7). Shows a daily performance graph. 8). Add pilots to records who do not appear on killmails. 9). Three access levels, Admin, User and Guest.
Installation: 1). Create a database on your MySQL server and import the 'tables.sql.zip' file to it to create the tables. 2). Edit the 'includes/class.database.php' file and alter the member variables to reflect your server address, name, username and password. There are also variables for which control the display if there is a server error such as site name and admin email to recieve error messages.
Usage: 1). Log in as user: admin password: admin 2). Go to the administration section by clicking the link on the navigation bar. 3). Click on the 'Edit Corporations' link and add the corporation to be tracked and specifiy a tax amount. Roughly 20% is sufficient. 4). Go to the main page and click the 'Add Killmail' link to expose the input field. 5). Paste in the killmail and click 'Add'. 6). Add more users in the administration section to allow other people to use the board.
Notes: 1). All portraits have to be added manually and must be in jpeg format. These must be put in the 'images\portraits\32' and 'images\portraits\128' folders in 32 and 128 pixel square resolutions respectively. 2). The 'Update Database' link in the 'Administration' section is used to re-create the database indexes and increase the query speed of the database. This may have to be done from time to time to keep the database snappy. 3). The 'Backup Database' link in the 'Administration' section is an absolute link to an install of phpMyBackupPro available from here: http://www.phpmybackuppro.net/
Todo: This release does not contain Apocrypha database details. It could do with a bit of SQL query optimisation. Maybe an automagic way of adding portraits could be added.
Demo: http://www.kalekold.net/eve/brutal/killboard/
Download: http://www.kalekold.net/eve/Ledger.zip (37Mb)
This project is pretty much abandoned at the minute and no further development is being undertaken by me so i've released this as open source under the GPL. See License.txt for details. Although it is unfinished, this killboard is fully working and was used for a pirate corp successfully for months (see the above demo link.) This thread the main contact point regarding this project.

Yep i developed the lot. Infact i developed as a way of learning MySQL.
To answer the other question, I was actually considering adding ransoms but while planning it became clear it was too open for abuse. For example i could enter that i had recieved 1 billion ISK ransom when i really hadn't but who's to know otherwise, no-one can see my wallet. So that feature was left out.

Agreed, hence why I'm avoiding the corp's requests to mod one onto the EDK. :\

You could always require people to enter their API key (full), and then display any player donations from the victim.

What about some rule for example: minimum one month old character, must be in corp, with t2 or faction setup verified with full api. So realy only the most valuable and rare ransoms would be shown on the top and not just some faked shuttle trial kills.
Of course this still could be beaten but who would create create each two months characters, train them then delete them and create new ones to make place. This would be too obvious.

Nice idea but could be faked too easily and/or you would have to put in a lot of work to do all the API checks, and i mean a lot of work. Also you would need the API key of the victim, which is not going to happen.

Kale, I love the look of that kill board and the features are pretty sweet too. I was wondering if I might be able to convince you to pick up the project again. If compensation would be needed I would find a way to make that happen.
I'm uneducated when it comes to working with this kind of information and with APIs as well. My corporation could use something like this and we aren't the kind that need to worry about people entering false information |

For those who are interested i've given the board a little update. See this thread's first post.
1. Now fully supports Apocrypha and Tech3 items/ships. 2. Added new flashes on all graphics for tech2, tech3, faction, deadspace and officer items/ships. 3. Reordered the images folder as 11,000+ graphics in one folder was causing problems. 4. Lots of tweakes and polish.
Please post any bugs or wierdness here. I had some reports of some errors appearing in the PHP code due to uninitialised variables. These should be fixed now even though they don't effect the board, they just look bad. Let me know if there are any more.
To upgrade an existing board, replace all the web content with the contents of the Ledger.zip and import the updated.sql.gz tables over the the existing database. Before you do that though, BACK UP YOUR DATABASE just in case!
NOTE: I can't give you any support for MySQL and PHP, if you wanna try this board out you're gonna have to buy a book on these subjects or pass it on to someone who knows how to set up a database and webserver.
Have fun.

I might look into that. The trouble is that for each kill the 'loot is placed in hangar' checkbox needs to be accurately toggled to record what happened to the loot. Otherwise the payment system gets out of whack.

Killmails can and are faked all the time. This kind of board is no more susceptible to it than the rest.

Thanks.
Yeah it could get abused, but pirate corps do seem to be quite close knit and loyal to each other, so i don't think it should be a big problem with a board like this. But, who knows. The main reason i created this board was to sort loot payments out for my corp members, of which it worked like a dream and everybody loved that. |

I actually use this board even though my corp isnt a Pirate corp... The smaller corps should actually enjoy these cause the loot splitting is a great feature alone.
Thanks for the work Kale.

This one is because i use two methods to redirect the page once loaded. One i try a simple location header then i write a little javascript redirect. If you have page caching off you will see this error for a second while the page redirects. It doesn't effect anything though. I will use the error suppression operator on this call and you shouldn't see it again m8, i'll update it later.
I'm assuming it does actually work and updates your passwords it just flashes this on screen afterwards for a few seconds?

That's because a Guest account wasn't setup in the old 'tables.sql.gz' file i linked to. I've corrected that now, just redownload the above 'tables.sql.gz' file and reapply to your DB. If you want to create one yourself, log in as user: 'admin' (without the quotes) and use password 'admin' and go to the administration section. Create an account called 'Guest' and leave the password field blank. Give the account 'guest' permissions and click 'Add Account'. Done!

Great work on the board.
One possible problem I've noticed is that the URI is not always encoded correctly. For example, when viewing a pilot's details, the space remains in the URI string instead of being substituted with whatever code is supposed to go there. A space isn't a problem with most browsers but names with odd characters may cause problems.
Thanks! |

Some other feedback as I play about with it.
When you search for a pilot, it simply lists all their losses and the links take you to each of those losses. There is no way to get to the pilot's info page from there, nor does it list their kills which is available from the info page.
It would be handy if the search page also showed kills they were involved in. I've also made a change to line 821 of kill.php so that the victim's name is a link to their killer page. It now looks like this in case you wanted it: -
Print("<td class=\"Value\"><span class=\"Name\"><a href=\"killer.php?Name=".$Row_Victim["Victim"]."\">".$Row_Victim["Victim"]."</a></span></td>");
I've not tried to do anything with the search function as yet.

Okay, i can alter that. I'll also link the victims/killers to their stats page.
Originally by: Random Excess what does the adjustment value actually do?
It's an adjustment value to offset loot that hasn't been recovered or that naturally 'goes missing' or maybe the recorded prices on the database aren't 100% accurate, etc. e.g. you kill a nice ship on the gate and when he calls for backup you have to leave, leaving the loot behind. This adjustment takes care of the 'missing' loot. I found 17%-20% works well. It doesn't mean you're swizzing people out of hard earned loot, just that some of it slips through the cracks. This is based on experience of using this board over a 3 month period.
Thanks for the report, I'm away for this weekend but i'll get on it, starting next week. ta.

Not always but Small Corps like mine do have the tendency to pop them If "our" space is breached.
We have a POS structure on our killboard that we popped and posted just fine. Our POSes also show up on the Killmail if they shoot a ship. So Dunno if he means when we actually kill the POS which I think is what it is but Ive never tried posting a POS. |

What about allowing pilots to indicate whether they successfully recovered the loot, say with a check box, when they enter the killmail? Now perhaps you don't trust your members to do that accurately, but... I personally think it should be an option instead of a staight up adjustsment. |

There is a checkbox on the kill page to indicate wether or not the loot was placed in the loot hangar.
The adjustment value doesn't seem necessary but after a while you will see it is needed. This is not necessarily down to pilots being untrustworthy but because there are so many variables you have to take into account. When 'payday' comes around you have to have enough loot in the loot hangar available to be sold to a value that matches or exceeds the total loot payout from the loot page, otherwise you have a deficit and it's gonna cost your corp.
Variables are: - market flucuations (you can't revise all prices for all kills on payday) - loot not dropped in hangar but the tick box is mistakenly left on - only half the loot recovered because of limited cargo space - etc
A value of between 17-20% seemed to work out well.
If you have a good day and sell all the loot for way more than what you have accounted for then pay a dividend to the pilots!

I am not interesting in tracking for my corp. Our members are free agents, we do not have a "loot hanger". I am merely interested in tracking the stats of my pilots.

Have you done anything for API or feed integration yet? I understand your hesitation when it comes to "has the pilot put the goods in the hangar?" If it's fed by API or feed, then perhaps you can assume no and allow the pilot to adjust this later.
Also, what about batch import/export of kills?

EDK supports import/export of both individual files (one km per file, .txt extension) or a single .csv file with km's quoted and comma delimited. I'd prefer the single file import/export method since it's much cleaner.

Is there a question in there somewhere? If you're posting problems i need more info than just the error message, for example what page you were trying to view, what you did to produce the error, etc.
Saying that, it looks like the script is not able to load '..\Pirate Ledger\images\interface\graphs\LootDetails_template.png'. Does this file exist on your server? If not get it from the Ledger.zip on the first thread page.
In fact whenever you want to update your install to a new version, it's best to copy the entire Ledger.zip files to your webspace, that way you have all the new stuff.

That error was happening when trying to click on any of the top 10 on the kills.php page that takes you to their "personal" kills page.
The images were there... I deleted them and re uploaded them and it started to work.. Somehow I think it got corrupted on upload or something with my server was going on. But after putting the images back it worked. |

Ok, good. Maybe you had uploaded them as ascii instead of binary? Oh well, at least its working now. |

The website title could use some form of main integration as well... But thats just a minor thing..
What I mean by title is in the header... where you name your website... Theres numorous pages that have Pirate Ledger and have to manually be changed to reflect your corp name or alliance if you use the PL as an alliance KB..
Again just something minor. |

This. Major issue for me at the momment.
Another thing: There should be some kind of feature where you can enter in how much a ship's insurance payout is, then have a pilot check whether or not a ship was insured when they lost it. For example, I lost a hurricane yesterday. With insurance (paying me 40m or so) I only lost around 40m on the ship, but its showing up as -80-something million isk off my overall isk earned because it doesn't factor in insurance. As isk efficiency is the main reason I fly BCs (t1 insurance ftw), and I decided to use this killboard specifically because of its focus on isk lost and earned, this seems like a very vital feature.
Likewise, there should be a "loot was recovered" feature for losses as well as kills. That way if I die, drop a 90m faction mod (not that I fly like that, but for the sake of example) and I recover the faction mod, I don't get 90m off my overall amount earned.
Yet another thing: It would be nice to have kill total show up on the main page under the loot total. I know it is less important, but I'd like to track both (like how EVEdev KB has both "kill points" and "raw kills" on their main page, one under the other)
If this is asking for too much work, feel free to ignore it, but I think these features would take this board from "good" to "incredible".

These are all very nice suggestions but... i'm not going to add them.
The insurance does make a difference but you have the problem of logging what type of insurance you have (gold, silver, plat, etc.) Way too complicated! Plus i think that when running a corp it's best to display the overall cost of losing a ship instead of an adjusted value after insurance. I feel this is best because it does indeed make losses look worse than they might be. This keeps people careful. You would be surprised the effect of a board like this has on the behaviour of a pirate corp. No one wants to be the one who has lost the most and no one wants the fail stamp on the losses page!
The loot collected from a lost ship is also not really relevant because when pirating you hardly ever collect stuff from your wreck after a loss, especially after being blobbed.
Also it was a conscious decision not to put kills or a points on the main page because pirating is all about stealing money and trying not to lose any of it. The losses are supposed to feel very harsh on this board and the isk on the front page is the friendly competition with your pirate m8s. At the moment i feel this board breeds the right kind of atmosphere in a pirate corp. It makes people want to kill and earn more and makes people not want to lose anything! True piracy.

I suppose you're well within your rights on all of those, though the insurance thing irks me a bit. Every other killboard I've ever used autoadjusts for plat insurance.

Yes i am in my rights as i'm the only person contributing and giving away the code for free! I don't even need to give you any support! I am not bothered one iota if this board is used or not! I released my code to help people out especially others writing killboards. If you want to make changes to the code feel free, but you must respect the license.

People often dont use plat insurance and people hardly ever insure tech2 ships.
I visited your board and i think you are using old code or have only updated bits. Download the 'Ledger.zip' again and replace all files (except the 'class.database.php' file). You don't need to do anything to the database.

I'll check if that is the issue.
Also, several modules don't show up on the killboard: biggest issue is Balmer tracking disruptors.
For this reason especially, it would be great if there was a "view original killmail" button... __

The problem here is that there are several items in the Pirate Ledger Database that have the wrong name for some reason. The DDO Photometry Tracking Disruptor I which is item ID 5322 has a completely different name in as far as the Ledger's DB is concerned and it is not the only one. There was a new data update from CCP a day or two ago so it might be time to update it?
I have done such an update on our DB and all items are showing up properly in killmails, even the ones that were previously submitted.

I've just written a Wordpress plugin which displays kills from the EDN Killboard as a widget on your blog (as I'm currently using that killboard) I'd like to expand the plugin to be able to pull kills from an install of the pirate ledger. Would that be ok?
Let me know and we can have a chat about it!

Well, for EDN Killboard it just connects to the DB and pulls the kills directly. I could get it pulling them from rss feeds as an alternative method! Would work better for remote killboards!

Great software, just a few questions:
1. I tried to add a ransom involving a pirate who has no kills on our board. How do I do this?
2. Is API feed planned in future? As specified, trying to get everyone to post all their kills will be a logistics nightmare, not to mention losses.
3. How do I get portraits to show?

You can't at the moment as far as I know.

No clue on this one. Think it's been asked for before but not sure what the official answer is. Read through the posts ;)

This is covered in the original post.

4. How do I change the page title from 'Pirate Ledger'? Would prefer to use something like 'Ichizoku Corporation Ledger'.
If you change the <title>Pirate Ledger</title> section of each PHP page to: -
<title><?php Print($Database->SiteName); ?></title>
it will use the SiteName variable you set up in the database configuration file. From memory, it works on all but one file with no further modifications necessary. The one file that it didn't work on needed to have said configuration file included or something like that though I don't think it was a page you ever see the title from anyway - I could be remembering wrongly though.

It's probably got something to do with this recent problem
The ledger uses CCP's server to download individual images so if there has been a problem there then that's why your portrait is not updated. I _think_ it should fix itself if you go to the craeteaccount.php page again from the ingame browser since the apparent portrait serving problem seems to be fixed.

You can't unfortunately. To make things easy to use, the pilot list for ransoms is made up of everyone that has had a kill and is in a registered corporation (in the admin section). If i hadn't done it this way, you would have to either add everyone in your corp manually or type each name in separately when adding the ransom. I think this way is better. Look at it as a initiation ritual, you have to have killed before earning the right to be payed on a ransom.
Originally by: Gnosis19 2. Is API feed planned in future? As specified, trying to get everyone to post all their kills will be a logistics nightmare, not to mention losses.
When we tested this killboard in our pirate corp over a 3 to 4 month period we had no trouble with people posting kills. In fact, if they didn't post their kill, they didn't get paid. Remember this is a pirate killboard for true pirates and especially for loot sharing. If they aren't on the board, their balance doesn't grow and they don't get paid. Also the api can only handle 100 kills per day(?) for the corp (http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Char_KillLog_XML). Sometimes we went way above this amount so manual posting was needed anyway. I don't know what the time interval is for the api updating, i seem to remember it's 24hours?
Losses on the other hand are a different matter. Even though we didn't really have a problem with people posting losses (i mean who really cares?) there was the odd one or two people who 'forgot'. I might look to add an api feed for losses only.
Originally by: Gnosis19 3. How do I get portraits to show?
I think there was a problem with the image server but it should be ok now. Try this link: http://img.eve.is/serv.asp?s=256&c=1328398712 If that shows your portrait, it's working.
Originally by: Gnosis19 4. How do I change the page title from 'Pirate Ledger'? Would prefer to use something like 'Ichizoku Corporation Ledger'.
I've ammended all the source files in the Ledger.zip to read the page title from the 'includes/class.database.php' file. Change it in there and the whole site should then have that title.

One of the users of our board has just pointed out a missing item in a kill. The item is in the killmail as "Beta Reactor Control: Diagnostic System I" but it is entered into the DB as simply "Beta Reactor Control", resulting in the slot showing up as empty in the kill report. It looks like the colon is being interpreted as something during the killmail process and text after it being removed. I haven't got a fix for it yet but will post if I get one done before you do ;)

Anybody have an updated item database for this? Because with the latest patch, rigs aren't showing up on the killboard since they now have sizes. I figured I could write a script to copy all the rigs to small/medium/large, but that would require effort.

I am leaving EVE for a while so i can't provide any more updates to the Legder for a while. I will try to do what i can but don't count on it.
See if you can get another dev to contribute.
Keep up the yarrr!

Ok i've updated the database names, prices, images and all outstanding bugs in the source code for Apocrypha v1.5. See the first page for the downloads. Any problems, let me know. I have automated scripts to do this stuff, so it's easy for me.
Have fun!

Nice work! Really great application!
Question, how do you reset balance when you paid member? I tried the manage balance of the admin panel, but I can't see the option to reset balance for the user (or for the ledger?)
I have an old version of the ledger (I will update the ledger tonight).
How do you do it?

Thats incorrect, you can do 100 kills per pull. You can pull a weeks worth of kills by using the beforeKillID parameter. You can also pull 100 every hour.

Thanks to kale who i emailed and has helped me greatly in providing this update. and understanding how it all works. Theres a few bugs still kicking about, but I'll do my best to iron them out and begin adding new features.

If you need a place to keep an svn of files I'll be glad to host it. Not that much of a programmer but I've hosted several projects before. Just drop me a line in-game.

The problem with hosting a project under SVN is that you can't give everyone commit rights or it will end up a mess. There always have to be admins to review the code. I've provided the source here as a stable package that won't change. |

My suggestion was of course not to give everyone commit-rights, only people that you approve of, and the suggestion was only made since last I saw you were not active anymore. It would be a lot easier for multiple people to contribute to this project if an SVN was setup.
Also, the SVN is only meant for developers. Once the developers decide that the current features are stable enough, they present a package with a pretty version-number which is static, much like you've already done. Only improvement would be if there's several developers working on the project.
Again, it was only an offering and if you're not interested there's nothing I can do about it dude Just make sure you keep it up as I absolutely love the project! Any alternative to eve-dev has to be raised to the skies and given help, competition is healthy

There's nothing wrong with forking it and hosting your own SVN project as long as the original license is respected.

Wouldn't feel right even though the license would be respected. Don't want to feel all bossy and stuff on somebody elses hard work. (Especially since I don't have the essential skills in programming to contribute with anything really worthwhile myself).
I'd however like to report a bug with the character portrait generation. I believe the form submit-url is wrong, and when I change it to what should be right it dies with an SQL error (although the portrait does generate and save and show up on the ledger)
Edit: Although, if there's a few people that would like to get onboard and put some effort into this but just lacks the coordination and the awesomeness of an SVN (and if it follows licenses and stuff, I'm not really into reading a gazillion pages of legal text) I'm all for hosting one for people.

Yes, I believe so.
And if someone could throw all the sql-files together into a single one the installation of a new ledger would be made a whole lot easier :)

Yeah, we don't use it properly either, but I like the idea as a whole. It's got ubar-potential if some things just got fixed (and some extra features needs to be added).

I would ask anybody who has used this killboard to vote for me in the upcoming CSM elections. I am commited to giving piracy a platform and to represent pirates on the Council of Stella Management.
I love lowsec and i think piracy is a valuable part of eve which provides a valuable isk sink and a much needed adrenaline surge for the regular player.

is it just me or CreateAcount.php IS NOT COMPATIBLE with new ingame browser ....
