I really don't know what angle I'm trying to go here with this post. Be it looking at the sheer ignorance some people retain in regards to consensual pvp, or how the game works in general. Or maybe it's the first faction bs you pop in highsec -- meh. Anyways, a story of what not to do. If you were him.
I took a prober to try my luck with "ninja salvaging" (hence the quotes, piggy backing on carebear hatred of people stealing their wrecks seems to make them angry). After about half an hour, I'd found a Golem, Hyperion, and CNR that simply did not want to play ball. I'm blinky, but the touting in local is all they can muster. Time to find a new target...something to sink my teeth into and make a good start to the weekend.
I happened to come upon a rattlesnake from my prober. Interesting, faction ship, maybe a decent setup -- but I was low on decent hits so I went for it (I figured anyone flying something with a respectable pricetag would be more inclined to ignore me). Warped my destroyer and started "ninja salvaging." Cough. Unfortunately, upon warpin, I'm staring at a 40km burn to the accel gate. Meh -- not many wrecks on scan so I assumed the snake was just hitting that pocket, and would make an easy target. My assumptions proved to be correct, and there were no more than a handful of wrecks near him. I went to one, turned salvagers on, and took the loot. Oh noes, now he's blinky! Damn ninja salvager, I am so going to teach you to steal from my wrecks! This guy was different! He wasn't all strong angry man in local -- he had CRUISE MISSILES, and wanted to use them. I ran, smiling, knowing there was a phoon sitting in station wanting to draw blood.
I docked, loaded torps, and undocked. I checked the scanner again to see if he was the type to engage and 15m afk in station for the agro timer -- but saw nothing. Great. Warped to my BM -- still on scan. Drones and everything. "Ninja Salvager" has teeth!
The burn to the accel gate after landing in the mission pocket was an agonizing 10 seconds. Pounding scanner, drones are still there, his ship is still there...clueless, making iskies in empire, without a care in the world. I mean he showed me, right? Because shooting ninjas fixes everything? So CCP should fix this right away? Oh if carebears only knew...they are such easy targets, because empire is safer. Right....theres an extra letter at the end of your word there.
Making highsec safe one ship at a time. All too easy, and bears are chomping at the bit to shoot any salvager who makes the mistake of going blinky. Please, keep doing this bears, we love you!

If you can afford a Rattlesnake you can afford to let someone loot your missions once in awhile tbh. Hubris is the downfall of every faction ship pilot.
