I currently have 7 faction standings with the Minmatar race.
I was reading on the forums that you could get a 22% increase in your standings just by gaining all the ranks in FW how long would that take you?
Also I still have a few lvl 4 cosmos missions I could run but I doubt that is going to help me much. So how hard is it to get 9.99 standings with a faction?

To get from 7 to 9.895, which is the point you will see 9.99 displayed, you would require 22 x 22% increases.
To get to 9.995 (indicated 10.0 in game) would take another 4 x 22%
More realistically if increases were 5% per mission the above figures would be 100x and 122x respectively.
4% would give 126x and 153x
I am 10.0 indicated, to several corporations and up till a couple of days ago was 10.0 (actual 9.998)to Gallente.
I refused a Lvl V storyline remotely and had 3x -0.015 standings hits.(knocked me back to 9.9898) This is going to take 14 storylines to repair
back to 10.0

what is the benefit of having 10.00 standing to a faction?

There is no benefits. Its Just a number.

I have a 9.8 standing with Minny!!  Apart from looking good, there's no real benefit to getting it so high (unless you're looking to start your own corp for high sec towers).
On the down side, I'm not able to go into Amarr space  Think that's on -9 or something daft!! ROFL
With a 9.9 standing, you can speak to an agent in space.. give him some tags & you'll get a Fleet Pest BPC
Oh, and took bloody ages to get it that high (most was done before lvl4 agents & cosmos were ingame!)

10.0 standings with a faction means you can do any and all agents with that faction.
If you have a mission running corp; You'd get 10.0 faster.

So in other words I will have to run about 1600 missions in order to get the 100 or so storyline missions it will take to get from 7 to 10? This could be alot longer goal then I expected it to be

And longer than that...

Think of all the Iskies you will be making while doing all those missions :).
I made a good chunk of my standings by doing Courier missions, its possible to do at least 16 missions per 2 hours and the storylines are the same as Combat derived missions.
There is a good Lvl 4 Q18 Creodron agent in Marosier. Best ship is a Viator or other Blockade runner, although most can be done in a Shuttle.

yep, I think it is even a 2 run bpc, each race has an agent like that too
