There are a lot of good posts here, but I see that the OP keeps referring to T3 being same price as T2, as the market is player run and the parts can be found in WH the price of these is going to remain fairly high. Not everyone can run WH, or even find em, and say the price of a T3 ship goes to say 300 million, are people really going to risk a ship that much when they can leap into a T2 ship for a third of the price? And as to the comment: "tech 3 has very low overall skill requirements, this is to allow newer players quick access to "endgame" content, but with the general lack of specialized training, these newer players are gaining a huge advantage over years of training older players have invested. Where exactly are skill points supposed to matter anymore?" - it is true newer players can fly these ships faster, but the price is an issue for newer players, and the main issue is that they will not generally have all the support skills trained to a high level and so they will not get the most out of the ships. You need many support skills for flying boats very well and even some players over a year or so dont have em all trained.
For PVE side of things, I think you will find people training all sub skills to 5 and they will be the new peon pve boats, for PVP IF someone is mad enough to fly one it is more than likely skills will all be at 4, because the time investment is a lot even though they are all rank 1 skills. The idea behind T3 is very good, we have ships we can adjust as needed for certain tasks, for PVE this is invaluable as we know what to expect generally. A good use for PVP I can see is maybe logistical support, you can have a loggy cruiser with a far better tank than the current models, but still the price tag is gonna make many people fill their trousers in a big fight.
So in conclusion: Are T3 ships gonna cost same as T2? I dont think it will ever happen, T3 parts are all supplied by players and so they control the market, even if CCP brings down build reqs. Not everyone or every corp can get into WH and find the parts needed, players will be taken for as much iskies as the suppliers can take. Are T3 ships overpowered? They can be made into pwnage boats, but the risk of loss and being shamed on killmails is going to be high. Is it making EVE more versatile for newer players? I think it is and as I have said it is making them more attainable for newer players but these players are not going to be able to get the most out of the ships until they have trained all the needed skills that make a ship shine.
