I am wondering why is it that podding people creates such a huge sec hit. Getting podded does not mean the end of the world. You lose a maximum of 4 mil for a clone, and I highly doubt that a person with so many skills will be podded anyway. They are usually smarter. And even 4 mil is not all that much money at all. Mining kernite in 0.5 will make 4 mil in no time at all. Insurance pays for the ship.
I know you will say "implants" but there is something that people should realize about implants. They are a risk when you put them into your head. You know that you should not be going into low sec unless they are prepared to lose them.
At the current rate, a person with 0.0 standing can pod 3-4 people before becoming an outlaw. I am counting agression, ship destruction and pod kill as all part of a single killing.
The 12.5% sec hit is way too much. Can I get some opinions?

it ain't bad i do it all the time =P and it takes more then 3-4 pod kills to become an outlaw, and once you get below neg 5 it progressively gets harder to lower your sec status ----------------------

I agree, the sec hit is way too much for the podding. It should be more for blowing up the ship. As for the implants... if you know what you're doing you simply won't get podded. I've had mine for a few months now, never lose them when I blow up.

It is way too much, but on the other hand it is supposed to be a deterrant against podding
Even those people that have lots of skill points and implants can get caught out if they are not concentrating

It just bothers me that after my bindge of podding people for a few days, I can no longer go through 0.5 systems. I am fine with having to travel on the outer limits of empire to get to the other side, which takes for ever and a day alone. But to have to go deep (40 jumps) into 0.0 (patrolled by CA) just to get past one single damn 0.5 system that just happen to be blocking your way, that sux!
Solution: 1. Make podding less of a criminal bad. Perhaps a 0.5 points off the sec status. 2. Make all the 0.5 systems that are on the outer banks of empire that prevent circum-navigating around the empire into 0.4 systems.

How about this....
A player with a -5 and above rating can fly through empire space, BUT, his ship must have no aggressive modules fitted.
Of course he is still susceptible to attack, and has a much greater chance of being destroyed etc.

If you want to travel through secure space don't POD. It's set that way for a reason.

There is no law in 0.0, so pirating there is kinda pointless.
Im trying not to get below -2.0 myself, because I dont feel like navigating every course I make around each system I cant enter...
Besides, what is the point in being an outlaw? You cant go anywhere where being attackable will matter much.
Frankly, I think it would be fun to try to get through Yulai without getting killed by pirate hunters.
It's not like you become more dangerous at -5.0 ____________ Sex / Rank 9 / SP: 1280 of 2304000

Pod killing gives a huge sec hit becuase your committing murder. If you dont like the sec hit dont do it. Simple (oh and btw this is coming with somone with a sec of -4.8 before you start throwing names about).
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

Back in the day when torp splash used to inadvertantly scrap the pod I would agree that it was a big sec hit.
However now you have a choice. There is a reason why you feel the need to pod them so when you say it's no big deal then the same would hold true for no big deal letting it go. However you do it for a purpose that is important enough to you to have done it x number of times.
So coming here and saying it's no big deal actually defeats your arguement from the get go.
Destroying ship should be a bigger sec hit? What if it's a shuttle?
The only thing that would make sense is to base sec hits on a monetary loss system. Meaning that a bigger loss would be taken if you destroyed someone's BS as opposed to an ibis.
However I'm not that opposed to the way the system works now. It's not too hard to get sec status back up by killing BS NPCs if you want to maintain a decent rep.
However it just seems markol that you want to have your cake and eat it too. You want to play the 'outlaw' by podding people, yet you don't want to have to deal with .5+ being off limits.
Maybe you ought to think of joining an alliance corp so that you can PvP without the security status hit?

I am in an alliance corp. TPS to be more specific.
The need to pod is very strong. I never do it without a reason. When I catch some one, I always ransom. Never have I killed for the sake of killing. But to let some one go without having paid the ransom, that's just against the rules. I see a frig, I ransom the pod after a demonstartion of having fitted a SB. The pod has no chance of escaping, so pay the ransom and leave.
But if he does not pay, I am forced to kill him. I don't like the sec status hit and all I wanted was a fair ransom.
