This. A traditional problem with skill-based games is that the gap between new positions and veteran positions steadily widens. The new player finally gets his shiny new BS and finds he is still hopelessly outclassed because everyone he meets has invested a year or so in maxing out their skills and has faction outfitting.
BTW, I have a couple of extra vet hats. Just send your color preference and 1b while the supply lasts.

I disagree though. I don't find the gap that wide at all. A veteran character has some advantages, but "hopelessly outclassed" is not how I would describe a new character. In terms of PvP, experience and smart thinking count for more than skills trained. It is the same way in any skill-based game, and newbies have just as good of chance at succeeding as veterans.

I Know.....Turn into a jove char after a certain amount of skills/skill points, though a very high amount would be needed of course.

Yup,almost 6 years old and still here....That was a popular request in the first year that the server went live(2003),but it's a shame that even after all this time, the jove only serve for background story and nothing more.

Uh, that permanent "advantage" was paid for from subscription fees.
Older Vets have got less for their money then new players. That is a simple fact. New players have been given more "free" SP and a buff to training time. Older players have not yet we pay the same 15 bucks you do. I dont necessarily care that much, but newer players saying "vets were given an advantage" are simply ignorant, or lieing.

Indeed,i started this very char with only 8000 skill points and flying the basic frigate, and took nearly 4 weeks of training and making isk before i was flying my first cruiser(vexor),and then another 4 months playing several hours a day before getting into my first battleship.
There were no atribute implants,no level 4 missions,no mining barges or even battleship NPC spawns in 0.0 for that matter, heck not even T2 mining lasers or T2 BPO's earning billions,or invention.
Isk was way harder to make and skills took a hell of a lot longer to train,so any newer player still *****ing that Vet's have it easy now is absolutely right, but we had it way worse in the early days,as there no comparison possible how much easier EVE is overall.
EVE in the early days was hard core, plain and simple.
