Edited by: Belkadan on 13/04/2009 16:53:31 Same rule as piloting ships; Don't transport what you can't afford to lose.
People play this game, people can be douches. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
I don't know enough about EVE to give you ace tips on avoiding suicide ganks, but I've had enough ships blown up fighting in low sec to know the affordability rule applies to every aspect of EVE.

An electronic attack frigate scanned me in 0.5, Narjia, or some system like that, and a Megathron whacked me the next exit gate in 0.9, two systems from Amarr, 1 from Romi. Began with an M.
i know the individuls of whom you speak i live there they are poor pirates at best , and no they do not scan ships they usally attack noobs and shuttles . funny thing is they get concorded at least 4 times a week. what we did to them is put a minning barge on auto and then just wack them both when the attack it. then they go to station for a couple of days . the rinse repeat. they can also be found at station baiting noobs with cans ... not really what any here would call pirates . one even claimed to be cranberry muffinman.......hehe a pimple on his arse maybe......regards chaz

Do warp to 0 on gates ect and fit at least one wcs.
Fit inertial stabs to get into warp faster.
Tbh if you absolutely have to move a bunch of crap at once , follow all the rules and make it 2 or 3 trips instead of one. small loads keeping the isk value down.
Skall.... you shut your mouth right now You're taking isk out of our wallets with these helpful tips.

Don't AFK autopilot when carrying valuable stuff. If possible keep the value of the stuff you're carrying under the price required to gank it The end.

This. Also blockade runners are the I-Win of moving stuff. Only way you're gonna lose your ship is a large, well organised bubble camp (rare) or cat-vs-keyboard aggro.

Originally by: Purple Ackie Edited by: Purple Ackie on 12/04/2009 20:13:29 My character was a victem of suicide ganking just a few days ago. I was using a Bestower to transport stuff from Jita to Amarr, and I was scanned down about 1 system before the gank. I lost about 1.5 billion ISK to the gank, which represents about half my efforts in Eve so far. I was about to quit Eve just after this happened, it was pretty sickening, but have changed my mind and would like to ask if there is a way to protect oneself against it. I gave CCP some mouth, because I put all my cargo in password protected Giant Secure Containers, thinking this would be ok.
Needless to say I was informed by CCP that they only work in space, so I'm left wondering, what can I do to protect myself from folks that like to gank young traders like myself?
Do you need a freighter for the hit points, or a transport ship with a cloak?
Use ships that have passive tank and buffer. If i transport BPO's and BPC's for instance, i always use a heavy armored and shielded battle cruiser with some shield rigs on it to get a nice tank. Then i set it on autopilot and go do something else.
I have been suicide ganked over 13 times that i witnessed (watching the laptop go on its business on autopilot while i watched movies on TV on the same time), but 0 of them succeeded in killing my ship and taking my cargo. Combinations of 4 cruisers vs me, or 2 battlecruisers vs me or even 2 battleships vs me on the same time. All lost the fight, concord came well in time, they didnÆt even came to 50% armor.
So slap plates and shield extenders on it, and donÆt forget to put on some em/thermal/kin rigs on your ship for more resistance and your good.
If you have to transport things that use big amounts of cargo space, then use a blockade runner and apply the same principle. Slap some plates and shields on it and get passive hardeners (disadvantage: the blockade runners donÆt have much powergrid). Then just put it on autopilot and go do something else. LOLZ guaranteed if you see the response of those noob suicide gankers in local when they cant crack ur ships passive tank. I even had a noob suicide ganker trying to crack my ship 4 times and he lost 4 domiÆs. The first couple of times he was flaming me for it. On the 4th time he sayd in local chat: ôoh **** its you againö.
His name: Ivy sigh (or something like that) <--- LOSERRRRR I noticed this loser didn't even update his killboard with his losses to me. Seems like he can't take his loss (hope you read this Ivy)

seeing too many guyz flaming this fella i started wondering, "are there ppl called "natural born eve pilots" or is it still possible to learn something through old fashion way "asking, doing mistakes"" so pls be a little more tolerant.. just an advise..
m8 the beautiful side of eve is it's too much like the real life when it comes to taking risks and "losing".. and not like WoW where only thing you lose is your running time to your corps from graveyard when you're killed.. yes it's sometimes very frustrating but then you should calculate the risk you're taking trying to make ISK..
there are plenty of ways that you can use to lower your risks against pirates.. try searching about anti-pirate tactics and such.. check your route jumpgates for gatecamps, use your map (it works, really) to see the podkills in 1 hour.. don't go afk with valuable materials in your cargohold.. for some more expert kinda tactics learn using instas, bookmarks.. read as much as you can about those tactics and try putting them in action..
but always keep in mind all these precautions can only minimise your risk factor.. there's no place, no ship inwhich you can be %100 safe.. and that's the part that separates eve from other mmorpg.. if you like this fact go on play.. but if you don't try another game..
stay alert, stay alive..have fun on the way..
