only if you use the in game browser to visit a website- they don't get the char info (unless you've designated the site as trusted) though.
Any quality |-|4x0|^ would not brag about what he was going to do where it would be logged and traced back to him/her. If you were on teamspeak your IP would be viewable to any SA. Other than that, Eve is secure because there is no direct connect between players. If there was, we would ALL be vulnerable to packet warriors and little kids from russia would rule the game.

As a network engineer I can tell you this is possible, although not probable. There EVE severs and their internal network are pretty locked down I bet. For this guy to actualy get your IP he would have to hack the EVE servers. And CCP would be on that like a fly on Sh^&*t. In my professional opinion i think this is just a big coincedance, or your someones alt trying to scare the ore thieves. \
The following line is what tells me this guy doesn't know a damn thing about computers though...

I've seen this guy and he is an ore thief- he even tells all the miners in local what he's going to do  *I let him steal 1 veldspar
While its never nice to see anything happen to anyone in the game due to RL- people love it when it happens to someone else esp a known criminal
Personal Opinion:
In the bigger scheme of things; mining,agent missions, building and researching, hunting NPC's are all about 1 person enjoying the game. PvP is mostly about 2 sides having fun.
Whereas ore theft- pirating- ganking- are all about 1 person having fun and its not the victim. The victim is usually upset due to the loss of equipment, time/effort put in and in certain cases has no way of defending.
so the victim has 3 choices:
1. learn and adapt
2. become a fixture in high sec space
3. leave the game
I've had several friends who played and left. Reputation of a game means a lot and Eve's should not become a griefer's paradise.
CCP has to walk a fine line and its not always easy to do.
any way that's just my 2 cents

But when they come after u in industrial ships thats a different pic and a different scale. I just wish CCP would allow the victims to be able to enact a certain amount or retribution. I hope they do allow that with the upcomming release of Shiva november 3rd. In anticipation to that prospect, I have placed a warp in hibitor and a passive target lock on and 2 heavy launchers and 2 250's on my cruiser as well as 4 valkeries. we will see what we see on nov 3rd.

the base programming stuff is a load of bull there is no 1 program that lets u get in 2 some 1s pc i no ths 4 a fact
as 4 nortans this is the biggiest load of crap in the world i no of a voro that disables nortans and u can go into some 1s pc and it is not a crimminal affence u can only be dun if that person persons is part of the cia mi5 and has confidentual docs in there pc now the message thing that*****up was made using a pice of software any 1 can use most basic tool in the hole world (name withheld) now if u had a screen pic of this happining i could tell u more about the soft ware that was used was there any thing left on your pc this is inportant this so called haxxer would have left a trace and if u can find that is is a powerfull tool u can access his pc if he has not got a proxy!!!now 4 the next thing y the hell r u stelling ore y dont u just mine it like the rest of the universe

Let me just state, anyone who has said it is possible to get someones IP from the EVE GAME SERVER is talking complete and utter twoddle, due to the simple fact that to gain the IP from most game servers now you need their DE-CODER (yes folks game servers have become much more secure than most banks now'a days). It is however possible to get it from this web-site by inserting certain 'things' but we wont go into that.
However this guy who was going to 'hack' your PC must be a complete TARD concidering he brought up Norton... WTF WILL NORTON DO TO STOP SOMEONE HACKING YOU?!?!
You can disable Norton on someones PC with a simple single lined 73 character algorythm.
The fact he didnt point out a real 'FIREWALL' is infact the biggest give away, and carrier waves? WTF... this guy needs a clue.
