Originally by: WisdomLikeSilence A Dev once referred to eve as a "science fiction simulator". I think ultimately, eve should be an all encompassing game with planetary surfaces, cities, atmospheric flight (and combat) and the flexibility to do almost anything in this imaginary world. That would mean doing violence to your fellow man/alien/space pet if you so wished, and bearing the consequences of your choices.
So eventually I would like to see PVP in stations, sure. But not until eve is well advanced from its current stage.
I think eve is only just beginning. In the future I can well imagine millions of pod pilots battling it out in space, some watched on entertainment channels on caldari prime by millions more who are more interested in the corporeal aspects of the "game".
I completely agree with this. Much though I love getting blown up in spaceships, I'd also like to get blown up in spacesuits. And on planets. And in planetary atmospheres. One of the biggest reasons people leave EvE is that they sumply get bored of flying spaceships; diversifying the available options will help with retention no end.
I hope that in a couple of years that flying spaceships will be one of a range of options, although I suspect it will always be the most popular one.
Look how many people ask for direct control of their ships via joystick rather than point and click. The spaceships part of the game is not amenable to this; but direct-controlled planetary combat ships are a no-brainer. This could give the "joystick jockies" something to really enjoy.
I'm not personally a huge fan of FPS games, but if ambulation develops into something more like System Shock - slower paced, spooky, lots of puzzles, I'd be all over that.
Diversifying EvE - as long as CCP stay true to the principle non-consensual PvP - could change EvE from an really good game to a really great game.

Waiting for the technology? That's not all that plausible really, IMO. Every other MMO is already "ambulatory". Flight Sims have been around for decades.
What technology are they waiting for, exactly?
Lack of developer resources, though - now that I could belive.

Originally by: Ankhesentapemkah They should just let us have bodyguards/gladiators/advocates etc that stand in for the character to do the fighting, just like noblemen could let other people resolve duels in their name.
Or a couple of ambulation alt slots - "henchmen".
