Like a moron, I accidentally deleted an important kill mission bookmark in Jita (Success Comes at a Price). The targets were one each: Gurista Wrecker, Gurista Destructor, Gurista Emissary and an Unmanned Ship. My question is.... should I have been able to find the mission bookmark using my scanner??? Since I have little experience using this tool, I enlisted the help of someone who knew how to scan a system, and he was unable (after an hour) to locate the ships. I finally ended up warping to the Sun, all the planets, gates, belts etc, using the Range scanner on my ship to know avail. At some of the key locations I used the directional scanner at 90 degrees. While I found some Wreckers on the scanner, I never found the actual mission rats. The person I hired to help said he found Gurista ships from another mission (on the scanner) so I'll assume it's doable, but who knows... What do you think... after accepting the mission should the ships just be sitting there for the duration of the mission time or do they only materialize when you warp into the bookmark? If they just sit there waiting, wouldn't that mean that anyone could stumble across a mission in progress and kill and loot the ships? I give up.

The ships spawn the moment you accept the mission from your agent. Chances are that someone else had a spawn close to yours, and decided to finish them off..but its not a 100% guarantee it will happen either.
I suggest waiting the mission out, not cancelling it manually - that should lessen the standinghit you're going to take, if I'm not mistaken. |

Thanks for the reply.... What sort of standing hit does one normally take for cancelling a mission? Also, I just right click on the mission bookmark under Places and delete after every mission.... this time I forgot I'd already done that and deleted the NEW one by mistake. Damn, of course it was an important mission, not one of the crap ones. Still.... no one knows if it would theoretically be possible to find a mission bookmark and rats in the system with a scanner?

You don't need to delete the mission bookmarks, its deleted automatically when you complete the mission.

Yup, I realize kill mission ones are, but on courier missions for convenience I use Station Search under People and Places and then Keep Location. From here I set waypoints. These must be manually removed. I was doing this and accidentally removed the important kill mission.

Booky, to delete bookmarks you have to click on the bookmark. It has to be highlighted then you can right click and choose delete. Works all the time. But it will not work if the bookmark is not highlighted (white) gl

If you haven't already done so, try talking to the agent. I was on a rat mission and lost my ship before I could complete it. After going back to my base, getting my other ship and returning I discovered someone was shooting my mission rats. Before I could get close enough to kill them off, the other guy did it for me. Just for the heck of it, after returning to the staion I spoke to the agent only to find that I got credit for the mission and the reward. I don't know if that will work in your case or not.
