I set up a small and a medium POS and stuck some small autocannons on them. The small went up just before the 2009.04.16 patch, and the medium on the 17th. I loaded the autocannons with 20K rounds each.
Today I found that all the guns are empty. There were no attack mails except a silly guy in a HAC taking potshots at one of them today. Looking at the rate of fire, it would take around 30 hours to drain 20K rounds. This wouldn't have been possible in that time frame... it isn't 29 hours since the guns went on the medium tower.
How else could my ammo go away? People can't just drive up and suck it out, can they?
I just had a friend check his POS in a different wormhole system, and his is drained also.
Does anybody still have loaded guns?

Sorry, I don't have a POS up myself with which to check.
Yet, if every offensive POS module that requires consumables in EVE had the ammunition "drained" by the patch, that would be ... hilarious, once people realise "Death Stars" don't have that whole "Death" thing happening anymore.

Since posting this I also posted on the POS Funtime channel asking the same question, and the only person who answered said his guns were also empty, and that he knew he'd loaded them.
So far I know of 4 towers with drained guns, and none that are still loaded. Anybody else want to check?
I submitted a bug report and a petition. Hopefully *somebody* will be interested.
I reloaded... we'll see if it's still loaded after downtime.

I guns are loaded and working as of today.
And I can tell you that a low sec tower guns are working today as well. You really need to understand basic posting skills. |

Edited by: Cagot on 18/04/2009 06:45:16 Thanks for checking.
I checked the "Issues and workarounds" forum, and it turns out others are having the problem too, so I'll go hang out over there and hope for resolution.

Keep in mind you only get mails when someone shoots the tower or it KILLS them, you don't get mails when it's wasting ammo trying to shoot something it can't hit or doesn't kill. For this reason web batteries and warp disruptor batteries are essential.

I'm getting the same problem,
Minmatar large tower, large autos and med artys on it lose all their ammo every downtime, not just on patch day - it still happens every day.
Petitioned CCP for it - I expect it'll be resolved any year now!

Had the same problem myself. Ammo from all of my small autocannons and two of my medium artilleries would disappear after every DT. What fixed it for me was moving all of the guns slightly away from the anchoring boundary limits. Previously all of my guns were anchored as close as possible or as far away as possible from the POS. After I moved them away or towards the tower a bit, the disappearing ammo problem went away.
I think anchoring near the min or max distances from the CT causes problems because in addition to ammo disappearing, several of my guns would mysteriously offline and lose "connection" to the tower after DT. I couldn't even online them after DT until I unanchored and repackaged them at a station. That problem also went away after repositioning the guns as previously mentioned.

Good info, thanks. I tend to have them as close as I can to the shield. I'll move half of them so I have a control group, and see how it goes.

I anchored a large pos in a 0.0 system on Monday, finished anchoring and onlining all mods on Tuesday and spent 4 hours filling 25 guns from artillery to rails (with one laser and cruise battery for kicks) only to log on and find EVERY SINGLE FREAKING MOD EMPTY!! So I do the right thing and send a petition asking for some help. I put in some ammo in a few of the guns to keep the pos relatively safe.. Log in the next day.. all the guns are empty again .. I add a message to the petition. 12 hours later I ask for an update on my petition... I add ammo again to keep the pos defended.. This has happened again. I have 4 updates to my petition with not even an acknowledgement.
I have spent close to 90 million isk in ammo and countless hours.. only to get bloody ignored. The only thing I have found is that others are experiencing the same thing and suddenly the issue is that the mods are too close to the anchoring zone or something? No.. the problem is that the patch mangled something and nobody wants to address it with players that are begging for some freaking help.

"I think anchoring near the min or max distances from the CT causes problems "
I am not sure this is correct - used this info and checked some weapons that are losing there ammo and they 'are' at the mid range for anchoring from the POS shield already. I don't have time to redo them today to try moving them a little, but I did check there range from the shield and they are anchored halfway between the min and the max set distance. Long story short - I have not got any replies about my petition either and am wanting answers also. Any more ideas, or if anyone else can confirm that moving the array's a litle one way or the other will solve the problem let us know. Thanks.

Edited by: Fantomex on 20/04/2009 03:42:44 The guns that were losing ammo over DT for me were not always the same ones that were anchored close to the boundary even though that would seem logical. If for example even just one of the guns was anchored too far away, I would lose ammo in all of the autocannons and the same two of my artillery batteries regardless of their positions. It was only when I had made sure all of the guns had been moved did the problem go away. Don't know why that is but I experimented over 4 DTs to make sure and there was a clear cause and effect between gun position and ammo disappearing for me.

I tested Fantomex's fix over last night's dt by moving half of my guns and then putting in 20 rounds. All the guns still had 20 after dt... even the ones I hadn't moved.
I'm cautiously optimistic. The workaround seems to be working... or else there was a hotfix last night.
I know they've been working on it: my bug report got a "we're aware of the problem and thanks for the additional details that we're adding to the file."

I have this issue as well in a low sec POS. Has anyone come up with a concrete solution to the problem yet? Thanks for any info.

Add another POS to the list, ours in a WH 'lost' its ammo. Also, it has come to my attention that I'm really in need of a proper signature. |

Edited by: Veritas Myth on 28/04/2009 12:33:37 Yes I have seen this also. All ammo does a vanishing act. Petitioning does not do anything, probably because they either have no idea why, (which would make them look inept) or they know why but can't fix it, (which would make them look inept)
Loading up with 20 rounds isn't going to be much good and isn't really an answer, distance from the shield doesn't prove to matter either.
Will be interesting to see how the hours of work and loss of ammo will be recouped.

If your being attacked, file a stuck petition, and ammo gets inserted
This isn't the only POS bug, we have had incapped warp disruptors online on reinforced POSs, incapped guns shooting, guns shooting even after the POS itself is dead, and a myraid of other stuff for the last week. Eve has so many fun, undocumented features

Problem was fixed for me by un-anchoring and re-anchoring POS guns. However, a GM advised they would not/could not verify my ammo purchase and were unable to refund lost ammo. I sent them a screen shot of the purchase and I am still waiting for a response.
