Hey, before the Apocrypha patch I could play with two clients running at max details fluently. Now I've got low performance even in empty space on a single account. Changing the graphic content settings does not have any influence on FPS at all. The FPS graph looks like this:
But when I switch onto my desktop or any other application and switch back to EvE, it looks like this:
Apparently EvE is running fluently when I'm not using it, but starts to lag once I switch back to EvE. This behaviour is unknown to me and appeared when Apocrypha went live. No driver changes have been made, nor have system components been changed.
System specs: AMD Opteron 175 @default DFI LP CFX3200-DR ATI Radeon HD2900 Pro 512MB OCZ 2GB PC3200 Windows XP SP3 Catalyst 9.3

Just to let you know, CCP made 'interval one' the default setting with this patch to alliviate all of the overheating etc that people suffered.
If you are set to interval one set it to interval immediate.

Interval Default is the new default CCP set, not Interval One. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

I have also noticed a SUBSTANTIAL performance drop and have problems running even a single client smoothly during a fleet fight whereas prior to the patch I could run 2 clients smoothly in a fleet fight.

I had that exact jagged fps curve in windowed mode but not in full screen. ~45fps in windowed at 1600x900 and 300+ in full screen at 1680x1050. (interval intermediate or force vsync off in driver control panel to get above 60fps)
When I switched my monitors resolution down to 1600x900 and then launched the game in windowed 1600x900 the problem just went away. (>300fps in windowed) Then I switched back to my native 1680x1050 on my monitor and voila now I have full performance in both full screen and windowed... Very weird problem. My hardware is a q6600 with a single 8800gtx card.

Bump.
Still having issues.
I'm running 2x ATI HD 3870's at 1680x1050 windowed.
Pre-Expac, I could run 2 windowed clients with little to no FPS degradation during a fleet fight. Post-Expac I can't even sit at a POS with 40 support in it without FPS degradation.

From today have same "saw" on fps graph while client is windowned, in fullscreen it runs smoothly, but no more than 60 fps (was >150 just yesterday)

And yes, interval immediate works

Only 60 whole FPS?
By chance is that refresh rate of your monitor? This would imply you have v-sync enabled, by whatever route.
You haven't really defined low performance. Under what circumstances does your FPS drop to say, below 30? ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

By chance is that refresh rate of your monitor? This would imply you have v-sync enabled, by whatever route. That clamps your FPS to maximum 60 Hz in line with your refresh rate, which is twice the amount perceptible to the human eye on average.

Yeah, that`s refresh rate, and maybe it`s works well in fullscreen, but i`m always using windowned mode because of faster and less bugged windows switching overall (especially when i`m using two accounts). And windowned mode with interval default is unplayable due to fps droppings as described.
UPD: And btw, sometimes it gets less than 60 on scenes where interval immediate give me 160

I had a very similar rythmical/bumpy gfx when runnign eve in windowed mode. Was very annoying to look at and unplayable. Even the fitting window was bumpy when spinning the ship. I had switched all effects off, everythign to low all minimum settings but nothing helped.
I have a core 2 duo 6400, asus mp5 mobo and MSI 9800GT.
Then I read this post and gave the interval immediate option a go and voila smooth as a baby's bottom again. Although I could within seconds hear my fan ramping up a bit but as I have a special cooling unit on my gfx card its still running much cooler than a standard 9800gt. But it does sound like interval immediate does put extra load on your gfx so watch the temp for a while I guess.
many thanx to those of you who replied with the good advice!
cheers
