Bounty hunting in eve atm is a complete joke and we all know it
Why is it so : well simply because any bounty placed on a char is far too easy for the character to simply collect himself using an alt.
Similarily Kill rigths is a joke (imo)
In my experience any kill rights i have gained is my cyno alts - my haulers etc and my killrights have 0 use to me. So how to change this and make bounty hunting mean something
This is my suggestion, but first some observations
We have a ingame kill mail system
We have a database with assigned values to every item (albeit out of date and not useful for faction items etc we still ahve a point of reference.
My suggestion is as follows
NR 1 make killrights sellable ( to corp or person)
Nr 2 create a contract system that allows the following type of contract to be set up by victim against any person with sec status below XX (only collectable in low sec)
Kill 500 Million(Value)of Persons Y gear and receive 250 million.
Now this would be a contract that should allow acceptanc by several corps (except players corp) which means that whichever orps first achieves the objective in their corp killmail will receive the isk.
To extrapolate on the idea it could also be used for mercenary contracts as follows.
Kill X amount of Item type control tower large of owner alliance/corp and receive 1 billion.
The latest type would mean that the contract system would have to have some way of identifying group of items as blocks like control towers battleships etc. So the contract can be set to specific targets.
I'm not a programmer but I can not see this being beyond the ability of CCP.
The result I could see though is two new professions growing up over time which at the moment are near non existent.
I'e bounty hunting and mercenary work (does exist to an extent but would benefit greatly from some means of controlling value of work)
Eve is a sandbox sure but we really do need tools to build the sand castles
Constructive feedback much appreciated please don't post wont work without your argumentation behind it etc.

I love the idea! ------------------ In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. (Douglas Adams) |

Yes noticed those there is also one in the sticky at the top of features and ideas page but everyone of them is locked.
Yet this is a idea I have had for 3 years long before the actual kill mail system was introduced into eve itself and now I see many others have had nearly the exact same idea.
Possibly because it's simply the most logical solution

A bounty contract system is what I am proposing for a while now, just didn't get to make a thread about it.
This would offer so many new possibilities to make bounty hunting a actual profession. Contracts can define who may or may not take it, can define what to do to the target, can be used to sell killrights, can be public or personal, can stay around until cashed in or removed once it gets accepted. Hek, it can even be used to have wagers over a duel, setting up a bounty contract basically saying, if you manage to kill me, you'll get that ISK from me. -------- Ideas for: Mining

But the majority of those that produce killrights are allready outlaws, and you dont need killrights to shoot them. Which kinda makes the whole bounty system redundant.
I agree that some sort of bounty system would be cool, but then i think the whole security system would have to be redone also.

Here is an Idea For the value of the ship destroyed is the amount the Bounty hunter collects from the bounty.
Jack who has a 400mil bounty on his head is shot by bounty hunter jill, Jill collects the value of the ship and moduals lost minuse the insurance awarded to Jack,(75 value -30 mill insurance total 45mil) Jill would also be awarded the value or the cost of implants if Jill pods Jack.30mil isk
Jill walks away with 70mil in the poket and Jack still has 330mil left on his head.
This should prevent alts collecting the bounty of Wanted People. Jill will most likely follow Jack around learning his habbits knowing he is a cash cow. In a game where death is just a convinence, real life bounty mechanics don't work as well as real life

Pop insured BS, everyone walks away with ISK. If you want to bounty hunt people, use crime & punishment forums. Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |
