By and large my Paladin is an outstanding ship. However, the over-the-top ewar placed on me in Blockade 4 makes it very nearly impossible to get this mission done in a timely fashion. The second spawn in particular is bad. Drones just aren't enough. My 75km optimal gets reduced to about 7km.
I'm rather attached to my Paladin but I'm looking for ideas for this particular mission. Cross training is an option considering how often this one pops up for me, but the less, the better.
At this time, my best idea is cross training Gallente Battleship IV and getting basic sentry drones. My armor tanking skills will carry over and it wont be the end of the world that I can't use railguns. Any other thoughts?

Would it perhaps be faster for you to slowboat away from the spawn points of wave 2 before triggering it? Then you can try popping the damping ships before they get into range to start the ewar. Sansha is tracking disruption, isn't it? I don't know what the max range of their ewar is, but I suspect you outrange it though you may be in falloff if you do this. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

I do this one in my myrm... well i do the second spawn in my myrm, the drones and blasters **** the disrupting cruisers. then i usually switch back to the abbadon to finish it up.
Sure its a pain docking up for 45 seconds to get a new ship.... but it does save time.

A nice thought, but these ships are already in my falloff with UV lenses (which happens to be my max lock range, too) when they spawn and they all collectively inundate me with ew.

Missiles / Drones?
I know what you mean though. Serp blockade is a ***** too with 7km lock range for the whole 2nd spawn |

If you're quick, you can warp within blockade as soon as you get EW'd, hop across the field, pop the jammers, and pop back to the warp-in. |

More tracking computers?
Serp Blockade is just as bad really, if you don't fit at least one sensor booster you might as well make yourself a sandwich on the 2nd spawn because you won't be shooting anything for a good 5 minutes.
That said my drones usually don't have a problem dealing with these ships, and tend to auto-aggro them first anyway (since they are the first ships to use offensive ewar on you, everything else is well out of range).
What are you drone skills like?

Depends really even when TDd my nightmare usually makes short work of the 2nd wave.. tachs can hit pretty well out to 50 km even when disrupted due to a nice big falloff. Warp in at 100km and snipe the little ****s!
You really only need to do this for the second wave. After that feel free to dive right in.

Wish I knew your secret. My fallof is 25km IIRC and my optimal is about 5-7km. I can't do ANY damage at 50km, let alone enough to make "short work" of the spawn.

Here's a trick you can try. Worked for me when doing my first blockade and accidentally popping all the triggers first (yeah it was totally untankable lol). Warp in at farthest range and drop a jetcan, wait a couple of minutes and then warp in from somewhere else, dropping another can at least 160km away from the first one.
Then you can warp between them and then just shoot at whatever is in range at the time.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Part of his secret is he's flying a Nightmare instead of a Paladin. He's got a 7.5% bonus to tracking speed per level of Amarr Battleship skill. I imagine it helps at a lot when disrupted. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Get a missile boat. Missile boats are best for missions.

Tachs, sensor booster, long range ammo. Sit 100km+ out and the tracking disruptors wont touch you.

For paladin - fit afterburner and 1-2 tracking comps with tracking scripts. Fly towards elite cruisers /20-25km/ and then lower angular velocity flying in the same direction like targeted loyal cruiser - they will go down in 4-5 volleys even when you are 3x disrupted /becuase you got 25km falloff, use medium drones on them too/. It takes some time, but mission is still easy doable in 20-25 mins /well, when you are tracking disrupted by all elite cruisers in the second wave, its not worth shooting at all, but that doesnt happen very often - and when it happens, its usually only for 1 cycle/.

Tracking Computer t2 +Tracking Scrip does it for me in Blockade lvl 4. Before fitting TC this mission took far too long. Now, about 35-45 min with full salvaging.

I simply use an alt in a Broadsword as a DPS sponge. I let everything lock onto it and pound it while I sit in an Abaddon and melt faces. If a new spawn targets my BS, I simply warp to the closest planet and back to break the locks.
I'll be in a Paladin as soon as Amarr BS V finishes training.

I load weapons with longer falloff. Even if your optimin range dropped to like 7km, if you can still hit okay to mid 40's you can still kill fairly easy.
Pulse weapons have smaller falloff, beams longer. I normally prefer pulse but for this I prefer beams. |
