Hi all, I am currently cross trainning into armour as I am primerily a shield tanker. I've had a look at the armour skills and there does not seems to be that many of them? Is that the case?

There's 2 or 3, not counting the Armour Compensation skills.

Basically you only need skills for DCU 2, EANM 2, 1600mm, and trimark, plus armor compensation skills. That's it :) |

And from what I can tell as a newcomer to armour tanking, unlike the shield compensation skills which are pretty much useless in most applications (because active hardeners are so much better than passive), the armour compensation skills are awesome.

Armor Tanking
Core: Mechanic 5 Hull Upgrades 5 Armor Comps 4
Optional depending on use/fit: Repair Systems 5 Remote Armor Rep 4-5 Armor Rigging 1-4
It only takes something like 1.5 to 2 mil SP to be what I would consider "effectively maxed" in this area.

Armor comp skills only affect one module so if you're flying a ship that doesn't use said module, then armor comp skills are kind of useless. Active hardeners are better than passive hardeners, and those who tell you that they aren't are buying really nice hardeners. ------------------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of war" - Plato |

That's factually incorrect. You meant to say "Armor comp skills only affect one module I use". Other people might use other modules which also get affected by those skills.

And who are you to tell whats better and whats not? I say passive >>> active
And that's for PvP world, i don't live in your PvE world.

P.S. guns specialization also affects one module, and if you don't use those specific guns it's also kind a useless.
P.P.S. each compensation skill also affects its primary resistance module. Like with explosive skill you also get bonus on EANM and on ERP (energized reactive plating)

Shield comps aren't useless. 15% on all resists on an offlined invulnerability field is nice. (in PvP)
