Hi, I am a new player interested in playing some type of soldier or stealth fighter. I am a Caldari- Civire- Merc and am looking for skill path suggestions.

Are you patient or impatient? My buddy who I am trying to get into this game is impatient, so I am not even suggesting any learning skills for him at this point. If you are a patient person, then you may want to get some of your learning skills up first. Regardless of this choice, you can still train for your combat career.
If you want to remain using Caldari ships, then you have two primary choices for weapon systems: missiles and hybrid turrets. Since you want to go stealth, I would recommend missiles for the Manticore (stealth bomber). Or you can go with hybrid weapons for the Falcon (force recon). Both ships use cloaking modules as a regular staple. Training for missiles also opens up other ships as well as arguably some of the best PvE ships (which can help keep your wallet lined with isk).
I have no experience with Caldari ships that use hybrid turrets.
At the moment, I would suggest sticking with frigates while you work on your support skills. It is important to remember your electronic and engineering skills as well as your combat skills. As for an actual skill path suggestion, nothing specifically I would recommend. Just pick a ship you would like to fly and start training any skills that would make you more proficient when you are flying it.

If your unsure about what kind of ships you want to fly, it might not be a bad idea to have a slightly higher focus on your support skills.
These are a must for any pilot anyway. Stuff like engineering skills (engineering, energy managment, energy system management) certain elecotronic skills (electronics), and if your sure you wanna fly caldari your shield skills (shield managment, tactical shield manipulation, your resistance skills) fitting skills (weapon upgrades) and missile (probably) or hybrid gun skills
Training these will give you a bit longer to decide without waisting any skill training time.
Though the most important thing is to make sure you have fun doing in the game. For me that has always been trying out new ships to fly. i love new toys..

if your a new player don't bother with t2 ships yet .
you won't have good support skills and you will certainly not have the isk to back up any t2 losses.
What do you think you will be going to do in eve ? Running missions or pvp (I figure your not doing industry because then you would be training mining skills right now).
If you want to run missions you won't have any use for cloaking ships because you don't have to sneak up on npcs because they don't run away. For pvp however it would be a good choice.
If you want to run missions I would start training for the drake and later the raven. Those are missle ships and they are both very good at running missions.
If you want to pvp you should find noobie-friendly pvp corp , there is a seperate forum for that , people in that corp will be able to anser your questions and give you better advice as people on these forums can. they stole my sig :'( |

Edited by: Wormrotten on 24/04/2009 21:43:53 Thank you all for your quick and helpful replies. I imagine I will be more PVE but of course some PVP. Thank you for the excellent suggestions. What's a t2 ship?
