Not sure why this thread is in General and not Patch Review but anyway, here goes:
Standings in the charsheet are not updating, at least not for factions and corps that hadn't been listed before a change occured.
Familar bug? Sounds like it.

You've got a highly exploitable bug in your loot tables atm.
It has to do with chained rats dropping the same loot every time. Think you can figure out how I could take advantage of that.
And while you fix that, do something about how NPC's drop non-faction related items (like shield hardeners on armortankers and such).
Oh, and since the higher numbers of NPC hunters seem to be semi-permanent you might take a look at the distribution of loot in general, since it's very clear now that a high number of simultanious hunters always resuslts in a low number of worthwhile loot drops, whereas hunting just before DT yields named and wothwhile dropss nearly all the time due to low online count.
For reference check a thread in patch revieuw and some older threads about that subject that got forgotten as well.
Anyway, that loot table bug needs sorting unless you want people getting loads and loads of good stuff only. _______________________________________________

Edited by: Valentine Keen on 01/09/2004 08:13:04 Additionally, we STILL can't see any corp set standings when we use show info on a pilot or corporation.
Nor in our charactersheets etc can we see any standings to player owned corps, only npc ones.
We've had 2-3 patches now that said they fixed this, but still I haven't got a clue when I look up a pilot if my corp likes him or not.
Please bring it back like you've claimed to already - it was bad enough it got broken, but faking fixing it is even more annoying.
Edit:
Plus, there was supposed to be a fix to make us all +10.0 to our own corporations again, which caused problems with player controlled stations, while this was fixed, our charactersheets still say our standings to our corps are 0.0.

Those two bpo's were BOTH pre-castor agent special rewards, however the adaptive nano bpo was released for the general public in this patch and the sield amp bpo was not.
I find this quite strange, and the lack of consistency seems quite unfair to me.
I bourght a "adaptive nano I bpo" at a (very) high price, and accept that that investment is "lost", however why are the owners of shield amp bpos not getting the same loss ?

I'm hearing from the Ships & modules forums that the Shield Amplifier modules may not have been updated as per the patch. (I don't know the before and after numbers, so I can't check.)
Score one more for the 'things in patch that aren't really in the patch' column.

Edited by: Helmut 314 on 01/09/2004 10:18:58 Yes, it seems like NPC BS loot drops are borked somehow. We killed maybe 10-12 bs and 3-4 times that of cruisers last night and got one large laser, but lots of ordinary loot and an abundance of armor repairers for some reason. I hunt Blood Raiders, btw.
The days before the patch I got several large lasers per night and a few armor reps. Crystals drop less frequently too it seems, but platings and stupid Shield Flux coils have increased drastically. Killing 4 Arch priests and getting 1 blood raider log, 1 tech1 armor plating, 1 tech1 membrane and a 1 mn ab and a ship scanner from each of them is boring.

Edited by: Valentine Keen on 01/09/2004 10:35:56 Is version control the stumbling block here?
Every time there's a patch, some bug rolls back and needs to be re-fixed. Updates and fixes don't get implemented like they should, meaning half the listed fixes never get implemented, since they're forgotten, never to be re-patched.
(See my point on corp standings, 'fixed' several times now.)
Is it too much to ask that someone in the team is at least given the task the night before the patch to make sure everything that's supposed to be in it, really is?
I know it would slow things up, but surely it would make patching easier and players happier if half the patch notes didn't always turn out to be a lie?
I mean, sure, I accept there will be new issues, some bugs not fixed, but a lot of the issues we end up raising are pointing out that patches don't seem to have done this, that or the other, like they said in the notes.
This, combined with recent goofs over missile damage and wallet exports, doesn't really give us much faith in what patches should bring to the game to enhance it, since everytime it seems we're hindered by taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
The last few patches just seem to keep reminding me why I quit back in January - patches that broke more than they fixed. I believe then that version control was highlighted and said to have been improved - clearly it hasn't been.
Edit: This is especially pertinent, since with Shiva the next scheduled patch not until November, we have to live with this half-arsed patch for 3 months.

Each submenu adds an extra step, and extra second of time wasted, when a second can be the difference life and death!.. or just difference between annoyance and mild happiness :)
Problems with reloads (jammed guns, lasers ending up with no crystal etc) always happens when you reload a succession of guns very quickly - I presume 2 guns try to grab the same crystal, or the ammo stack gets divide errors. Perhaps, therefore, the submenu is designed to make it impossible to reload weapons quickly, thus fixing the reload probs. Personally, I'd rather they fixed the underlying problems rather than building in cheap game mechanics fixes into the GUI.
As for the warp pulsing thing - that came in on the big 'optimisation' patch that improved cluster performance so much. Perhaps having a shorter animation is saving performance somewhere and, therefore, they're keen not to 'fix' it. I can't see how though personally as I'd have thought it was client based.
It is bloody annoying though :/
