okay, i just wasted another 5 minutes on this site wanted to see some screenies. but you can't just look at them imbedded in the webpage. nooooo! you have to download this stoopid .zip file. why?! aarrgghh!
so many similarities with established worlds in this genre. blatant ripoffs, if you ask me. there is one thing to be inspired by something and to honor that through a creative implementation. but this is flat out plagarism...

The site has been brought to the attention of the senior staff at CCP. The will determine whether any action needs to be taken against this company or not.
In the mean time, if there is any way to contact the company "creating" Evo, I would ask that you not do so with e-mails claiming that they "ripped EVE off" or anything of the sort.

well, I've been with them like one or two years ago, been one of their first Admins...
They started off as a Browser game packed into an own Browser somehow
However, I remember that they've been using this Layout back then already... and at some point they even used that Beta-Signup Animation EVE had...
anyway, the site I used to know has been offline for about 6 months or even longer... it's been too long and I've been avoiding thinking about it at all, but I remember that it was the very same layout, and even the very screenshots back then^^

I honestly don't see much resembalance to EVE in this.
Some of the screenshots look like direct flat out ripoffs when not zoomed in, but when you are zoomed in - big difference. Planets have tons more detail, stations look about 5 times as detailed as EVE and it even appears to give you the ability for planetfall (landing).
LucasArts is going to royally roast their bottoms over an open spit for blatantly stealing the ship designs - that's flat out unmistakable.
Perhaps the one thing that looked similar from ALL the screenshots was the JA/NEIN (yes/no) dialog box. That's all.

See it like this: Eve is C&C Renegade, EVO is History Line....
They say they have 3D... and maybe they even have sweet looking Screens now to cover up, that the game's taking a step every 5 minutes or so...
until it takes that step you can kinda set what you want to do...
Thats it about it, nothing special at all

So far, I see Star Wars, Robocop, Aliens, maybe even some Homeworld!
(On a side note, I am a Battletech fan, long live the Marauder!)

I can't say I'd be interested in playing the game at all, but I can at least see similarities in some of the ship models to other more well known franchises. Their modelers should have tried to be a bit more original though.
The closest example I saw, would have to be the 'Star Wars' looking ship...while it reminded me of a certain well known Imperial ship...when you compare the two side by side, the only real thing they truly share is the general shape...and I doubt George Lucal has patented the triangle. If he has we are all in trouble.
But because one thing simply reminds you of another thing, does not give you grounds for legal action. Similarities alone do not mean George Lucas or anyone else, can sue for something bearing a resemblance to something else. There are very, very, very, very few, truly original ideas left in this world.
*edit* As a side note, I just saw some of the screens that look an awful lot like EvE menu screens and such...and I can't say I'm too impressed with copying EvE's unique style. The auto industry is a prime example of companies regularily imitating eachother. One company cannot sue another because it feels its tail light designs were copied for example. Otherwise this would be happening all the time.

Why on earth are these people even thinking of making games? If you can't come up with anything semi original you have no business in the industry. This is probably the biggest abuse of multiple copywrites I've ever seen, I really hope they are just having a laugh with it and don't actually take that seriously. If they do take what ever work they themselves have actually done seriously they deserve to live in a box for the rest of their life paying off debts to lucas arts.

well i was looking at some new screenshots for Sacred Plus, a free expansion pack for the Diablo 2 style game Sacred, (recommend it btw =)), and this german site, Heeeere, just click on any screenshot and behold the evo-online ad, lmao is that even less legal than the evo-online site itself?? , had a friggen banner/commercial/ad for evo-online (LOL gotta love to say that) in every screenshot (if your "lucky" to see it), like..... evo-online is sponsoring that site? lol wtf..

well... 4players is a german website hoster dedicated to games and such... as far as I get it 4players seem to sponsor and host the webservers that run the php-scripts and the MySQL for this wholesale-ripoff... (they're hosting a whole lot of other Browsergames, too, I think)...
and well, the only connection to eve is probably, that the Lead Programmer has been a beta player of EVE and Jumpgate as well...

well i was looking at some new screenshots for Sacred Plus, a free expansion pack for the Diablo 2 style game Sacred, (recommend it btw =)), and this german site, Heeeere, just click on any screenshot and behold the evo-online ad, lmao is that even less legal than the evo-online site itself?? , had a friggen banner/commercial/ad for evo-online (LOL gotta love to say that) in every screenshot (if your "lucky" to see it), like..... evo-online is sponsoring that site? lol wtf..
somthing really fishy going on, lol, and to the guy that says eve is as much a ripoff of elite as evo-online is of, everything..
Well, i can hardly remember any textures larger than 1 pixel and models with more than 10 polygons in Elite, and god forbid did they copyright the square or box shape! :o
I mean this cant be a joke, not all the work on the website and faking it and ****, risking lawsuits.. And i dont care how original they wanna be, this (i mean the ships and stuff) are true rip-offs, i dont care if 1 or 3 polygons are different, they are too close to whatever they ripped off, geez they could just have added another "cargoarea" or something to the Aliens ship, but nope its a true ripoff, lol kinda funny :D
well... 4players is a german website hoster dedicated to games and such... as far as I get it 4players seem to sponsor and host the webservers that run the php-scripts and the MySQL for this wholesale-ripoff... (they're hosting a whole lot of other Browsergames, too, I think)...
and well, the only connection to eve is probably, that the Lead Programmer has been a beta player of EVE and Jumpgate as well...
