I'm sure many of you have had this scenario. You're cautiously checking a new system. Warping in at 60K (the Max allowed by the game and CCP) to check for spawn to see if you're going to mine or fight. You drop from warp .. at 60K and land on a moon sized roid. You are screwed - blue'd- and tatooed. Game mechanics will simply NOT allow you to get away in time, so unless there is a technique I'm not aware of... scouting for spawn or mining minerals is a roulette wheel.... you have no way to check a belt and not have a chance of being caught by this "bug" ( or as Microsoft would say.. "undocumented Game Feature").
In a low sec system this is death for your ship. It's been an ongoing issue now with vague promises of a fix. I guess my question is, how many have LOST a ship to this bug and secondly how many have actually had their ship (not even the mods.. just the ship ) replaced? Thirdly can someone at CCP please tell us how to prevent this from happening? C'mon guys.. show a little love other than "our logs don't show enough detail".. You can check spawns quiet safely in a pod, but I see where your coming from. After 2 months of owning my first BS, running blockades, fighting pirates, empire wars etc. etc. I finally get wtfpwned by the biggest hunk of veldspar in the galaxy.

Ummm perhaps this may be a short / long term solution? It should be exceedingly easy to throw in. Give us a longer warp out option? So instead of 60K being the max distance from target, let us choose 80K or 90K that would alleviate this problem with minimal fuss, not make anyone say "wah wah. you nerfed us again (at least I hope not)" and cease this pointless loss of hard earned ship due to poor game mechanics. Could we get a comment someone from CCP? a Yea or Nay would be great, just so we know that you still care "Your Mother was a Hamster.. and your Father smelt of Elderberries!" - traditional French Insult |

Yep I've lost ships to this 'feature', terribly annoying but in the end i ended up with a set of bookmarks which allow me to warp in at 120km max from a safespot which makes it somewhat easier. However thats in a system I've decided I like to hunt in and we really need a more generic fix

I lost a Caracal this way. Quite annoying.
Though it happens so rarely that I guess i deem it an acceptable part of the game. One never knows where he or she can end up after a warp, and setting 80 or 90k warp points just makes finding and destroying NPC's just a bit too easy.
In real space, if you haven't been to a place before to set up your own 'bookmarks', then you really are at the mercy of someone else's guesstimate-coordinates. So Mr Nick's efforts seem to be valid over continually trusting the game's auto-settings.

take fast frig (dual mwd ?) go to system you hunt in .
make bms 100+ km from the warp in point for all belts. takes time , dont be lazy . will save you some lost ships. -------------------------

Hey hey, someone else does my trick :P
Anywho, that's the best way I've found to do it, since NPC's won't attack your pod.
Although, you have to trust your ship won't drift often into the nether regions of CCP programing while you're away. I bet my Megathron and left socks are all together out there...somewhere...
