i have been playing eve now for just under a week, and after completing the tutorial missions and starting out on the sisters of eve arc, i ran in to a tight spot on one of the missions. another player convo me and helped me complete the mission. he asked me to transport some goods for him to another system(as i had an industrial ship from the tutorial rewards) after he explained how i could pick his goods up..me being a noob..i duly obliged..23 jumps later i was rewarded with 45,000 isk! ihave now spent most of the isk on basic implants for my character...I am not on a trial account and am currently mixing my learning skills which i bought with my ship skills. have i made the right decision in buying those basic implants?

Yup, you'll find in Eve the only wrong decision is the one that gets you killed in the stupidest way possible

Yup. Implants are always nice; a set of +3s will get you into the ships/fittings you want much faster.

Hi, and welcome to Eve!
Intense Thinker is right..
But Personally, I would have asked for 10x or 100x that price of 45K isk. I think he got off cheap - especially for a job 23 jumps away!

45k for transporting goods 23 jumps away? Very cheap! As the previous poster said, easily worth 10x that, although 100x is pushing it.

45k can be made in a matter of seconds, you make 5 times that in the SOE epic arc missions. 23 jumps is a long way for your time, you should ask for 10x that at least. But always check the route too, never go in low sec.
Implants definitely help, the best are +5. They will make skill learning much faster, so cybernetics can be a good skill to train up fast. At least to 3, never farther than the implants you can afford. You will get some of those implants as rewards in missions too. +1 in L1 missions, +2 in L2 missions, and so on.

Nothing other than +1 and +2 implants being easy-to-obtain storyline mission rewards, so if that`s wgat you bought you wasted ISK.
+3 implants as mission rewards don't show up until l3 storylines, whhch makes +3 implants worthwhile as you'll get a fair amount of use out of 'em.

100k ISK per jump is fine for folks flying a Freighter stuffed to the gills with cargo. I think 5k ISK per jump is wonderful for a character who would otherwise be flying a T1 frigate with limited gunnery skills. It's a matter of how much you could have earned in that time doing something else, or whether the little job might lead to something else later.
For the OP - +3 implants are a great start, they'll shave around 15% off your training times. Make sure you get EVEMon and set a goal for yourself too!

You definately want to get up to +3 or +4 implants, some people even go for +5, along with 5/4 learnings to boost up your training.
Also based on, if you know what type of ship(s) you'll be flying, the + damage % hardwritings are good also, as well as the ones that help with fitting / tanking. |

To echo what has already been said - 45k is a pittance for carrying anything 23 jumps, but it could've been worse I guess - he could've asked you to transport something through low-sec or to a 0.0 station you wouldn't be able to dock at (i.e. a trap).
