What is this?
I mean, I just dont remember seeing "Tech" levels associated with items. Nor do I understand why people are griping about not getting these items? Are tech two items even released yet? What are they?
Or is this have to do with the naming convention of the items, liek Mining Laser I, and Mining Laser II.
Is there a reason why I cant find Mining Laser II BP's any where? If they are not in the game, then I can stop looking?
Another question, I have not been able to see much major market difference between regions? I went to another region and they add all the same stuff, had all the same missing items, and close to the same basic price. So what is the reason to travel afar if you cant get something cheaper then somehwere else? Or see different items?
I was wondering if this player only market is not such a good thing after all?
Thanks for any help or education on these topics.

Tech II item blue prints are give out via a agents in lottory system where you get 'tickets' by doing resaerch agent missions and cpp release a 'few' tech II blue prints in stages. Thier are very few tech II blue prints and they cost alot of isk. and they need componts that agent runners also get that building them no so easy.
hope that helps

Tech I is controlled by NPC mineral prices.
Tech II is controlled by the shortage of tech II components.
At least, that's my take on the whole market at this moment in time.

Aye - the whole market and bpo distribution needs a big overhaul.
Currently there is no way for one seller / manufacturer to distinguish their products from anotherĘs. Corp branding is needed, along with a way to improve products, e.g. improve attributes through research etc... and allow sellers to compete on more than price. Manufacturing items needs to be made more specialised also, since many corps just make all their own stuff. (I have posted at length on this somewhere)
The whole tech 2 lottery, while nice in theory in that it gives individuals / small corps a chance to get hold of the big tech 2 bpos, in effect stifles competition, due to the limited no of bpos made available, which allows many sellers to in effect price fix certain popular modules.
The bpos sell for extortionate prices, and the popular ones are hard to come buy for sale even if u do have the money. Hence if you want to be a manufacturer of tech 2 large hybrid guns for instance (coming soon), forget it since you canĘt unless you win one of the bpos in the lottery or you can out bid the mega corps.
IMHO - the tech 2 bpos should be made available on the market as well as in the agent lottery.

They should really expand mining. I really enjoy the buisness in this game, but I really liked the resource system in SWG. The resources had a certain quality that determined the outcome quality of the item. Hence a miner who was vigilent of good resources would get plenty of buisness and a higher CPU for his product. I personally think this can work out great in EVE and greatly diversify the items in EVE.

I imagine at one point and time, T2 bpo's will be sold by npc's. But not within the next few months. :)

Forgot one thing there Josh, Tech II is also governed by the build times. There are definite limits on how many Crows for instance that can be manufactured per day. I understand that an inty takes 5-6 hours to build and an Assault frigate takes upwards of 11 hours. That means that a very limited number of ships can be built compared to the non-elite ones where BPo are available on market. Same thing applies to some of the T2 modules although the manufacturing time factor is less important in that case.
With Tech 1 you can invest in 6 Rifter BPO and have 2-3 Rifters per hour spitting out of factories. Thats hardly realistic for t2 manufacturing, unless you could convice 6 BPO holders to part with their multibillion ISK BPO:s

Even in Shiva when we are supposedly able to manufacture Tech II components and the shortages will be eliminated the build times and restricted number of Bpo will be a major factor in pricing of Tech II items.

The building time is currently one reason for the increased cost of T2 ships, but I think the real bottleneck is the components shortage. Does it matter how much interceptors you can build on a day if you receive only 30 fusion thrusters average/day? The added time is more a psychological effect than a real one, IMHO.

build time is negated with copies quite easily if you really really want to

But if copies take longer to make than the ships themselves (which I thought was the case) then you aren't speeding up the build time compared to having the BP running in a factory 24/7 at all, in fact you are slowing it down. |

Edited by: Isolo on 02/09/2004 15:49:39 Thank you all for your comments and info.
I am still wondering what a tech two item is? Yes this is gonna sound dumb, but here goes.
Is a Mining Laser I a tech 1 item? and a Mining Laser II a tech 2 item? Is this why I cant find BPo's or BPc's for Mining Laser II ANYWHERE?
Another question, last night I went to 5 differernt regions shopping for Zyd and Megac, all of the price were virtualy identical? So I am assuming there is not reason to make trading ones, because unlike in "Freelancer" you cant try to find a system that wants something more then any other system?
Thanks again,

Yes, all tech II items has a yellow marker in the top left corner with a II in it.
There's plenty of Miner II BPCs on escrow, finding them however is the tricky part.

Ahh. yes i have seen that, thanks.
As far as Escrow, there is the option to "Show All" and also "Show Region". I am assuming if I take "Show All" then that is for the entire galaxy? I have looked and havnt found any. However if you see one, let me know? I will buy.
thaks much all,
