Default layout FTW. Only thing I've changed is that local is a separate window ontop of corp chat/other channels. BECAUSE OF FALCON! |

I can generally position things as I want, except for four exceptions:
- The Targets that are locked. So far, best I can tell is that if you move that "Selected Item" box around, the targets generally appear to the left or right. This definitely becomes odd, though, when you put the box on the bottom of the window, as then the targets appear about two inches from the bottom of the screen. Being able to move the 'targets locked' icons in a vertical or horizontal arrangement around the screen, and even better, shrink them and possible stack them in two rows/columns ... that would be awesome.
- The neocron (you know, the little icons on the left-hand?). Sure, I can choose left or right ... but I'd REALLY like it if I could place it along the top or bottom, ala windows/mac. Running some script which allows minimized windows and other functions from the HUD (cargo hold, scanner) and other simplified commands? Great!
- MapBrowser. I don't know too many people who actively use this, but I would kill someone (in game, of course) for the ability to move the mapbrowser independent like other UI elements. Currently, you can only move it to the left or right, and it has no 'disable auto-hide' option and tends to push lots of crap around. Let me move either the whole box, or better, the individual boxes (I never need the region box, but the system and constellation boxes are crucial).
- The HUD. I can move it to the top or bottom? Awesome. How about vertically? How about making it opaque, so I might be able to put it in the center? So many possibilities.
Another UI upgrade I would love, is an radial menu. It works similar to a right click, only usually by a single keypress, like alt, etc. This menu is perfect for fleet commands, drone control, even simple menus. Just press alt, and a radial menu pops up near your mouse for a short period of time, allowing you to move a very small distance to choose a command.

Okay, seriously, you are my new favorite critter. I like you more than I like my gold fish, and what's not to like about a creature that never says a word and only has to be fed once a day?
I've since had my eyes opened, and realized that if you can find that hidden little crosshair, you can also right click and choose to vertically assort the targets, as well as 'lock them in order'.
Now if only there was the option to half the size of the icons and readouts ... oh, man.

I also tried for a while a layout just like yours, but it just freaked me out. So I went back to pretty much the default layout, with some extra comms channels on the left-hand side. Maybe I'll give your layout another try (coz I can).

Left click and hold when the cursor is on the capacitor (yellow bit in the middle ) and then drag it where you want it.

Mashie, I agree with you. This is a better layout. The standard UI forces you to look at targets at the top and click on buttons at the bottom. Those critical systems should all be grouped together, this can save vital seconds and not makey you take eyes of target to check your own status. I might give a similar layout a go and see if I can overcome the initial reaction you get to having the controls at the top.

Hi Mechtech The only probelm with moving targets to bottom is you still have objects closest to you at the top of the item list on the right hand side, which again has you scanning between top and bottom again. (You can reverss sort the list and scroll to the bottom but I thing the scrollbar resets when you jump). So I still think that getting used to the controls at the top might be a bit more efficient. (I would try to have drone control in the top too. But thats just me with a bee in my bonnet ;-) and nothing else to do while I carebear mine ore hehe.

You can 'Align Top' using the option available when clicking on the small right-facing white triangle just outside on the bottom right of the main HUD. Unless of course you're referring to free movement from top to bottom Ruze, in which case i think that's not possible (at the moment).

Right click on the little "cross-hairs target thing" (origin point of targets) and change to vertical.
I have mine as default (with local seperate on top) but with targets vertical to the left of the overview :) - like as others who keep their mods next to their targets, I like to keep the overview next to mine, for similar reasons.
Also, I really don't see how people can play eve without people and places open at all times (do people actually use the map for entering destination?!) and scanner for those who PVP.
I'll post mine if I remember when I get home

You can't move the notifications unfortunately, I would love to have the notifications below the targets. Also the warpdrive notifications would be handy to move upwards.

You were able to, briefly (on SiSi) set how many columns/rows your targets would display in, when they were changing the UI to allow you to move that stuff.
I rather wish they kept that.

Now that would be handy when flying logistics with 10 targets locked but have them display as two rows of five.

What does it do now? Extend all the way across the screen? (As a non-logistics, non-capital pilot I've never felt inclined to train targeting past 3)

Yep, I think it will start a second row if it hit the left side of the screen though. The workarounds I have at the moment is to make local a bit smaller so the targets don't end up underneath it or just play at a high enough resolution.

Just use the auto-link feature in a suitable chat window such as fleet for destinations.
So : 1. Type in dest in a random chat 2. highlight it all 3. right click it 4. click auto link 5. right click the auto link 6. set dest
VS
1. type dest in p&p 2. press enter 3. right click destination 4. set dest
plus p&p has the advantage of me being able to make Safespots continuously as I fly. I'll stick with p&p. |

If it's for fleet, broadcast the destination and everyone can rightclick that.
My UI's just the default, except with local and fleet chat separate from the rest of the chat channels. Cargo windows are set above the chat. I'll definitely want to see about the vertical targeting, though. I've always liked that idea. |

I have very limited screen space due to playing on a mini-laptop (Asus Eee). The screen actually goes off the bottom/top so I have to move the mouse to the top/bottom of the screen to see the bottom/top of my UI when playing Eve.
If I don't have this, the station services screen actually goes off the bottom and is not resizable below a certain size, making it impossible to open deliveries and corp hangar
It means though that my Overview is also on the left to get max screen space for local and spotting hostiles on the right and at the same time mean that the latest command / intel from my main chat window stack is still visible at top of screen, and top of overview still visible at bottom no matter whether the bottom or top of the UI is off screen

I'd love to move stuff around on my screen, but unfortunately I don't have a monitor, so i use a 32" TV via HDMI, and have it at 1280x720, which doesn't leave much room on the screen. I could set it higher, but unfortunately not much of the text in EvE is resizable, so even now I have to bleed my eyes to read the mail.

Originally by: Denny Haze I'd love to move stuff around on my screen, but unfortunately I don't have a monitor, so i use a 32" TV via HDMI, and have it at 1280x720, which doesn't leave much room on the screen. I could set it higher, but unfortunately not much of the text in EvE is resizable, so even now I have to bleed my eyes to read the mail.
That's not because you're playing with small text, it's because you're playing on a TV where the pixels are a different shape to computers and the pixel density is lower.
~46 PPI vs ~98 PPI on my monitor (15.4" 1280x800)
I have no trouble reading the text.
