What ship type is best for Exploration in high sec. space.
A Cruiser or a BattleCruiser???
I heard that some of the sites you find in Exploration are restricted to ship type/size. So how offen will i not be able to enter?? and is this only on some sort of sites or is it on all sites that can be restricted ??
i was thinking of going for a BattleCruiser.. But it sux if i cant enter alot of the sites found.

For only high-sec exploration a Cruiser is more than enough.
Gallente Cruisers would be the best choice for high-sec exploring, as they can fit exploration mods and still do decent DPS (with drones).
You can enter sites without acceleration gates with any ship.
However DED complexes have restrictions to use gates. Allowed ships: 1/10 Frigate 2/10 up to Destroyer 3/10 up to Cruiser 4/10 up to Battlecruiser 5/10 up to Battleship
1/10 - 4/10 can be found in hig-sec. Although 4/10 are quite rare. ---

For high sec-only I would probably go for a Vexor. You can fit the codebreaker and analyzer in mid along with a speed mod and a salvager in high. Drones will be your dps of course.
Since this is a bit slow for lowsec, agility wise, I have gone for a celestis. I still use drones for dps and mainly go for radar sites. I can fit a prototype cloak in high to use while scanning and Nano II in lows for max agility on gates, in case I run into trouble. Only problem is this will not break the main tank of a DED 4 plex boss. (I tried :)) That's why I stick to radar sites.

Yeah I was looking at this the other day.
Go with either a Vexor or an Arbitrator (Amarr cruiser.)

I've asked this a few times and the responses I've got is that Ishtur works for 95% of the sites and Myrmiden for the others, low sec go with a covert ops to find the sites, bookmark then switch to Myrm to go into the sites. Use a Destroyer for the WH's.
I'm not speaking from experience but I'm aim for an Ishtur, I'll probably start with a Vexor first though.

A corp mate is an avid explorer. He uses an Orca to switch ships as needed: Covert Ops Frigate = Buzzard (primarily scanning, also analyzing and hacking), Cruiser = Caracal (when gates force it), Battlecruiser = Drake (clearing sites), and a Destroyer Cormorant (salvager). He wishes he had a HAC.
He has done exploration in just a Battlecruiser (Drake) in both hisec and lowsec, though scanning out the smaller signatures can be tough (some nearly impossible) without covert ops bonuses and scanning rigs.

Well, both have the spare highs to fit a core probe launcher without any bonuses...
It's the second part of your criteria that's too vague. Even if you simply asked "What about a ship that can do battle? Raven or Drake?" it should be clear that there's no straight answer, either one could be better depending on your skills, the style in which you want to use it, the targets you expect to get, and so on.
In terms of exploration, they're both probably similar; Raven has two utility (or turret) highs and could probably afford the CPU a little easier than a HM Drake (HAM Drake should be fine on CPU), but battleship utility slots are so much more useful in general so it's a bit more of a sacrifice. Go with whatever the answer is to the question in my second paragraph, unless you're actually unable to come up with a fit with 20 CPU spare for the probe launcher.

Drake or Raven? For exploration, as well, as for ANYTHING ELSE you wanna do with either of those ships, it depends on how much SP you have and how rich you are.
A Drake is easier to fit well at low SP levels, as well as a lot cheaper. And until you have lots of skills at high levels, and/or spend lots of ISK, it will out-tank the Raven. It will also do MORE damage to frigate- and cruiser-sized rats.
If your skills are really good and you have a bundle of ISK to spend the Raven will eventually start to outperform the Drake, though. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie |

I have never tried Exploration.
Assuming I only go to high-sec areas (at least to start with), how do I start? What is the minimum ship and equipment I need? What do I need to train first?
Are there any guides for Exploration please?

If you've the money lying around, navy vexor is nice also. +2 lows and more base shield/armor/hull. (basicly just better tank, but don't have done that much exploration to say if even the hardest ones in hi-sec need any better tank than the normal vexor can fit.)
Only downside is -200m3 cargo.

This might be a dumb question, but why do people do Exploration?
Is it in order to bring back fabulous wealth plundered from far off lands, to bring civilisation to the primitive savages there or just 'because it is there'?
Seriously, what sort of activities are available for those who go exploring please? Should I think 'Conquistador', 'Missionary' or 'Everest'?

I am new to this game, but exploring is much fun. You get to explore exotic places, play with very exotic tec gadgets towards a singular purpose, you get to look cool while sporting you new ship and meet new people and then you get to kill them; (pirates ).

Mostly I'd go with the "conquistador" label. Exploration sites are mostly about killing as many rats and harvesting as much of the tasty goodness as possible. This includes wormholes to a degree although there are a lot of pirate corps that use W-space simply to pirate carebears. "Boo hoo. Cry some more." CCP Whisper
