I had this problem yesterday, and spent around 12 hours trying to get it fixed.

Eventually I did get the game installed, but unfortunately cannot give precise instructions of what exactly fixed the problem Confused

Originally I downloaded the game on a Windows XP SP2 machine via HTTP, and got the same error as Jaldarr. Tried again on the same machine, but a different HTTP mirror and still the same.

I then tried downlading via FTP using a Windows 2003 machine, and installed on the same XP SP2 machine across the network and everything worked fine.

I don't know if this is what resolved the problem though, as the XP machine was a clean install with nothing apart from patches from Windows Update when I started, and by the time I had downloaded EVE installer for the 3rd time, I had installed a lot of other programs, and changed some of my network configurations. I suspect it was the changes to the network config that made the difference, as the previous week, I tried to install on another machine, and got the same error until I made an internet connection after which everything worked fine.

Sorry I can't be of more help Confused
