hey, ive recently rejoined the game after an absense and the talk seems to be that the pilgrim is useable again. ive seen a couple in combat in the last week or two and they do seem to be pretty good, so does anyone have any ideas for a pilgrim setup for solo pvp?

depends if your after a setup that can probe or not, the huge cpu need of the probe launcher hampers a normal belt stalking setup.

In before Liang suggests LSE's and pulse lasers.
But seriously, there are two schools of thought.
1. Neuts and TD's. Sneak up on the target, decloak, scram and TD then suck it dry until the tank fails. Drone it to death. This can often take a long time, so if it's a bait ship or he summons friends you're in real trouble. The pilgrim is basically useless beyond 12km fitted this way. On the other hand, it's extremely hard to cope with a Pilgrim fitted this way if it gets the drop on you and you can't get backup.
2. The aforementioned LSE's and pulse lasers. Uncloak, scram and gank it with all the dps you can muster. Your target will either melt pretty damn fast or just kill you. One other bonus of this fitting is you can load Scorch and shoot at stuff that comes in and tries to kite you.
Either way, a pilgrim requires balls and no small skill. Fun though. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

Runs 2 medium neuts and the midslot modules capstable, after they are dry you can keep em down with the small neut (or a single med) and overload on the repper.

- Swap the medium NOS for a medium neut (or small neut) - Swap the small cap booster for a medium one
Not so sure about your drone selection, no Hammerheads?

Edited by: Durzel on 06/05/2009 01:03:36 You can't rely on the NOS to give you cap because at the point where you'll actually be effective is when they aren't able to rep/tank your drone damage, which implies zero or near zero cap.
There are applications & situations that can make use of NOS (e.g. multiple attackers) but you should disregard what EFT tells you about your cap recharge with NOS fitted as it assumes the NOS will work 100% of the time.
Also, don't presume that you'll have to run all the neuts all the time. You only need to drain them dry, then the small neut is there for a constant small drain to stop them repping. If you assume 2 med neuts + a small neut on a target: at Recon 5 that's 828 cap drained per 12 second cycle (360+360+108). After a minute you will have drained 4140 cap. Therefore you can assume that you only really need to run all of them for a couple of minutes tops before you switch to just having the small neut on them.
The cap booster is there for "s**t happens" and protracted fights, and I honestly don't think a small one will cut it.
EDIT: Also I'd swap the Trimark rig for an Egress one. You don't need the extra armor buffer when you've got a repper fitted anyway, and you don't need anything that will slow you down even more than the 1600mm plate already will.

Edited by: Krist Valentine on 06/05/2009 18:07:50 thanks for the replies, i really liked your setup idea omara, thats pretty similar to what i was gonna fly only i was gonna be putting a nos on there but i figure it really isnt gonna be that useful if im not up against a gang so thanks :]
edit: question though, really worth putting a small armor rep on there?

Try this one. It's similar but with a cap booster and med repper. Can switch a td for a web. Needs a 5% grid implant or a faction repper and 3% implant. Or you could switch a rig for an acr I guess :/ .

It is there primarily to rep back up after a fight, but I still can tank like 90 dps with it on overheat.
You can replace it with another eanm II for some extra buffer though, would also be better if you have logistics support.
