Aah, the quiet, peaceful sound of EVE... The ambiet radio chatter, the mechanical whirring, the occasional concussive "bang" somewhere off in the distance... It's like Feng Shui for space.
And the most peaceful action of all, the mining. Who can deny that sitting back and watching the orange beams fly is a relaxing exper--Oh my God what is that Godawful NOISE?! Did someone just toss a bucket of stainless steel bolts into a blender?!
Seriously. I think I've made my point. The new sound dampening system is cool, granted, but when mining with strip miners... it gets rather loud. I've tried selecting the "Quieter turret sounds" option in the UI settings, but that makes combat turrets virtually silent! That's not much fun. If it's not bad enough that the sound is loud, it's bloody obnoxious, too. It's the most unpleasant noise EVE has to offer, and it's even worse when you're amongst a group of macros. Usually, I just zoom out until the sound deludes enough to no longer be a nuisance, but that in and of itself is kind of annoying.
Special Ability: 100% increase in chance of headaches per miner cycle.
In conclusion... please make the strip miners quieter.

The sound would still be there, in all its splendor, I'm just asking to make it a little quieter. Because it currently dominates the soundscape. ----------------------------------------------

Keep it, mining is boring enough as it is.

Try using a real PC, not those Casio calculators that claim to be a PC.
Real PC users have sound in Eve.

Oh, I just always have quieter turret sounds on since certain battleship sized lasers and blasters now sound particularly grating.
OP's being a little bit fussy if you ask me, I suggest he does the same as me and possible turn the volume up a litte. :p

Agreed with the OP. Ever have your sound cranked up and fire off a strip miner? You practically fall off your chair from it .
A bit quieter can't hurt...

Try jumping in a hauler alt. Having to zoom out every time gets old fast.
I've had the benefit of the laser sounds vanishing completely from the mining ship...then I just heard the whine of the invul fields.

If only there was a way to de-select that option after you have changed into your combat ship.

Or don't zoom in to begin with...? why would you anyway? Especially on the hauler.
