Originally by: Nick Blanchard Lets say I wanted to have a add-on that will automatically warp to another solar system when a threat is in a certain range. WHY IS THIS CHEATING"?! In real life, instinctively I want to say away from someone that could whoop my butt and want to kill me, so why can't can't i program my ship to do the same?
It's cheating because the Terms of Service say it is. Read them.
Originally by: Nick Blanchard If in game, i can map around places that people have been podded, then why can't a ship be able to flee if his scanners pick up a threat?
It can be... you simply select a warpable beacon and warp to it... novel experience I know... give it a try!
Originally by: Nick Blanchard I am a passive player.
Then you're in the wrong game, Eve isn't a passive game, you need to be aware, and alert of what's going on around you to avoid being attacked or otherwise taken advantage of.
Originally by: Nick Blanchard I'm not playing the game to make peoples playing experience harder, I'm playing to have a good time. I don't want some punk attacking me for no damn reason while i'm paying attention to my skills or looking up prices on a ship.
If you're not paying attention to what's going on around you in space and lose a ship because of it then you deserve everything you get. What do you think would happen if the pilot of a 747 was coming in to land, while talking to his wife on his cellphone and shouting "woo look, no hands!" I'm sure the results would be messy.
Eve isn't a passive game, at all.
Originally by: Nick Blanchard The interface is alright, but it could be a lot better. Why can't I "tweak" it to my standards and who do i need to talk to so that it can be aproved?
300,000 odd other people manage with it perfectly fine. If you want to see a bad UI, look at the Eve UI previous to the Exodus expansion. The dev team change things as and when they need to, to keep the game's playability to a standard they believe to be proper.
Personally I have no problem with the Game's UI. Overheat controls could be a little bigger, but other than that it's fine.
You just need to knuckle down and get used to it, and learn that Eve always will be an agressive, cold game, not a picnic that you can play passively.
