Lets say I wanted to have a add-on that will automatically warp to another solar system when a threat is in a certain range. WHY IS THIS CHEATING"?! In real life, instinctively I want to say away from someone that could whoop my butt and want to kill me, so why can't can't i program my ship to do the same?
If in game, i can map around places that people have been podded, then why can't a ship be able to flee if his scanners pick up a threat?
I am a passive player. I'm not playing the game to make peoples playing experience harder, I'm playing to have a good time. I don't want some punk attacking me for no damn reason while i'm paying attention to my skills or looking up prices on a ship.
The interface is alright, but it could be a lot better. Why can't I "tweak" it to my standards and who do i need to talk to so that it can be aproved?

so what you are saying is you want a "add on" that will automatically warp your ship out of danger if someone approaches yours?

I just read a topic about add ons and how its a advantage you have while the other player doesn't. For you question, yes! I don't want to be attacked punk because he has fun making peoples day go bad. I have a hard enough time trying to learn about this game as it is.
"I'm new. A week old"
Look, i would to have a add on that will keep me away from other players that just want to start trouble and give people bad days. Or at least sound a alarm when i'm being targeted. Like "RED ALERT! AGGRESSIVE SHIP DETECTED"! Or a add on that puts people in a threat category

Easy to avoid: don't undock. If you don't want to be attacked (which kind of raises the question what you're doing in a PvP game), don't put yourself in a position to be so. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I play EO because of the simple fact that of the huge customization of personal ships and the economics of it. I play so that i can make money, get a bigger and better ship so that i can blow up rats. But since i'm new, I have a crappy ship, but that doesn't stop some punk from blowing up my ship, then blowing up my pod while i'm fighting a non Player pirate. I'm not playing the game just to sit in dock. I should have a right to fly around and do my own thing.

Obviously you are the kind of person i would like to stay away from. I could see you blowing up a titan just because they spent so much time and money into building it and it would kill them to get blown up.
When I find away to avoid you, you are going to be the first person on the list. Then when I become a kickass player, I'm going to make sure you don't mess with people.

First off you have a right to log in. Thats it. Second, you can fly around and do your own thing. And so can everyone else including people that want to kill you. If you dont ever want to be attacked, then you are in the wrong game buddy.

Sure, you do have the right to fly around and do your thing.
And other players have the right to do their thing as well, which specifically includes blowing you up, if you are foolish enough to leave the protective comfort of high sec space.
High sec is safe enough, you do not need any more babysitter programs to stay safe there.
And if you are to new to survive in low sec, then do not go there.
Simple, isn't it ?
As you said with your RL analogy... You would not walz into the Bronx all alone, wearing a designer suit and waving around an expensive camera.

I think he'd probably open his eyes, check the map, see he's in the bronx, increase risk of ass kicking factor by a significant amount and start making his way out of dodge.
Pretty much what you should be doing. No add on needed.
p.s. 1/10 but made me lol a little bit so I felt dirty.

It's cheating because the Terms of Service say it is. Read them.

It can be... you simply select a warpable beacon and warp to it... novel experience I know... give it a try!
Originally by: Nick Blanchard I am a passive player.
Then you're in the wrong game, Eve isn't a passive game, you need to be aware, and alert of what's going on around you to avoid being attacked or otherwise taken advantage of.
Originally by: Nick Blanchard I'm not playing the game to make peoples playing experience harder, I'm playing to have a good time. I don't want some punk attacking me for no damn reason while i'm paying attention to my skills or looking up prices on a ship.
If you're not paying attention to what's going on around you in space and lose a ship because of it then you deserve everything you get. What do you think would happen if the pilot of a 747 was coming in to land, while talking to his wife on his cellphone and shouting "woo look, no hands!" I'm sure the results would be messy.
Eve isn't a passive game, at all.
Originally by: Nick Blanchard The interface is alright, but it could be a lot better. Why can't I "tweak" it to my standards and who do i need to talk to so that it can be aproved?
300,000 odd other people manage with it perfectly fine. If you want to see a bad UI, look at the Eve UI previous to the Exodus expansion. The dev team change things as and when they need to, to keep the game's playability to a standard they believe to be proper.
Personally I have no problem with the Game's UI. Overheat controls could be a little bigger, but other than that it's fine.
You just need to knuckle down and get used to it, and learn that Eve always will be an agressive, cold game, not a picnic that you can play passively.

As for doing your own thing, you need to understand this: EVE is an actual MMO — a game where you play together with a massive number of people. It is not like many other supposed MMOs, which are essentially single-player games with some added limited-number co-op capabilities. Everything you do affects other people. Everything other people do affects you.
The only way to "do your own thing" is to get desynched from the server (and shortly thereafter disconnected). At that point, nothing you do affects others… (although, technically, others can still affect you — you just won't notice it until you log back in).
EVE is also a PvP game. This is expressed through the fact that people don't like being affected by you — it cramps their style — and will therefore happily blow you out of the sky to keep you from doing them harm. Blowing you up also feeds the main driving force of the game: the market (another very nasty PvP arena). You need to explode — repeatedly — for the game to function. You being around is really the only reason they need go pewpew on your behind, because they can be pretty sure of the fact that you're doing somthing that's bad for them… perhaps with the exception of giving them your money and stuff — that's usually interpreted as a good thing and they'll try to make you do it more often (occasionally through threats of virtual violence). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

There is already a warning sound when you are being targeted...
As for threat category... Well it is best to assume that if it is not someone you already know well, they are a high threat and to avoid them.
It sounds to me like you are either trolling or you just don't 'get' EVE.

Don't fly what you can't afford to lose, and stay in highsec...it's reasonably safe. Someone who builds a titan, if they get it into a stupid situation, deserves to lose it. and if it's not his fault and the attackers had smart tactics, they deserve to kill it. It's only a bunch of pixels, anyway. Have fun, but don't let the bad things get in the way of your having fun. you determine how you react when something goes wrong

You're the reason we can't get addons...because tards want to macro sh!t so they don't have to lift a finger. Thus why people dont want addons that would actually be useful are prohibited. The UI would be so much better if UI mods were allowed. _________________________

You call the police, who then handle it. You might get hurt, but when the cops come they pwn the bastard.
To liken that to EvE, your Bronx is low/nullsec, your neighborhood is highsec, the police is CONCORD, and the "call" goes out if they agress you by using EWAR on you, or shooting you.
Note also that stealing is considered a private matter in EvE, and ONLY gives you the right to shoot the thief; CONCORD will ignore what happens between you two.
Get the picture?
