Last night with my corp we flew around all of eve (many hours), through many corps 0.0 space, shot up their ratters, shot their station, violated their space....and for 7 hours nothing.....its not like we were hiding or running, an example 150 in local , kill a few ratters beloing to the corp in control of the area, warp to their station, shoot it,bubble it, hang around for the 10/15 mins get bored...move on, repeat endlessly all around eve. I should mention that instead of the usual 40 man gang of base fit T1 cruisers we were in HAC's. Now with the T1's is sometimes tough to find a fight, in a set of decent ships its almost bloody impossible. I did evetually die due the the eve affliction my comp suffers from (after 5/6 hrs the response time slows when I enter a command ...getting up to 30 secs or so, memory leak? I dont know really)... By this time our "fleet" had dropped to 15 mainly due to people needing to sleep and im guessing the tedium of no one wanting to fight. After quite a few of these roams I have noticed no one wants to fight unless they have a massive advantage..for the T1 40 man gang, that usually means 50-80 BS command ships and HAC's.. I'm guessing the 40 man HAC group was so frightning no one could muster a fleet of 100 T3 ships enabling them to actually pvp.... Just my thoughts on my first 2 weeks of PVP

wow i thought it was only like that in highsec (i fly arounds for hours and can flip and usually dont get any takers), but i kinda figured there'd be some ELITE PVPERS out in 0.0 that would fight... _______________________________________________

In response to Xiao, maybe its my flawed understanding of 0.0, casue I am new to thee whole pvp thing, but I thought the aim was to take control of an area of space, defend it, and defend your corp members that are producing the isk from that area. If we warp in kill their corp members, shoot up their station, your saying the aim of 0.0 is to make POS and hide in em? , that sounds kinda tedious and well to be honest, and to use a somewhat crude term...chicken ****...

Hah, Plim.
Well, although I've only been playing EVE for a week, I can say that there are just some days where 0.0 space is out of the loop. If you look for it, sure enough players will come running. I personally notice that on Saturdays, tons of action happens.

And since I have some time to kill, in response to DaDutchDude...people will not PvP unless they can win. I go on small gang 20/40 T1 cruiser roams almost daily, sure in the knowledge I will die 99% of the time, the aim is just to learn to PvP and have fun, sooner or later..can be 30mins or 5 hrs the FC finds a group of ships that can kill us and we die...on purpose trying to take out as many of em as possible.... So some people will PvP knowing they are gonna lose....

Low sec seems pretty frisky for small gang pew pew atm. Well at least until the thundering herd arrives after you already killed one of thier members ratting in a belt then it turns into the normal 0.0 style blobfest. But at least there are targets to kill if you are smart and quick to decide when and how to aggro.

that may be true, but if fighting you, giving what you want, prolongs the disruption you cause, it is a foolish course of action. you said yourself that you got bored and moved on after 15 min. if you want a fight you'll have to be a wolf not a flea.

Yeah, didn't think so.

This may be presumptuous on my part, but I'd bet your FC wouldn't have led you into a fight against 100 Sniper BS that came in to wipe out your roaming gang either. You guys would then be the chicken **** you despise. Fact of the matter is, engaging a 40-man HAC fleet is terribly foolish in 90% of circumstances. You got your fleet up to a comfortably large number, and should expect others to be uncomfortable with the notion of engaging you unless they, too, have a blob to engage with. Otherwise, theyll save their fleet-fits for more strategicly important engagements rather than giving neuts a wargasm.

Have a couple folks in CovOps fly out, take names, and then take the fight to the invaders over the next couple weeks. :) See how quick they are to fight when it's one against a retaliation force of 40 ships...

To Kat, I would love to have our corp wardeck anyone and try to take over anything, but as I said I have been doing the PvP thing a couple of weeks and ours is a PvP training corp, I have would have no idea about how to go about doing that. To Amond, I said it seemed chicken **** for em to hide in the POS, I have little PvP or 0.0 experience, so as you say it may have been the correct thing for em to do. I honestly dont see why they would not fit 100 T1 BC w cheap fittings and come out and fight us, fully insured they would have little to lose, and if they won as I assume 100 BC should stand a chance again 40 HAC's with a few tacklers thrown in on their part, they had a chance of some nice KM and loot from our ships.....And unless POS have some extra fun things to do in em...like maybe a **** channel or beer and chips on tap...it might have been more interesting for em...

Ok xerroth this is what you do. Scout out rancer for when the flashy reds are camping it and move your fleet two jumps away. Split your force into 4 wings of 10 ships that will each focus on one target due to the liberal use of wcs on gate camping bs. Jump the most heavily tanked insured crap t1 fitted bs you can get ahold of into the camp and get the sharks into a feeding frenzy. As soon as they all aggro quickly move in your hac fleet and start killing. With luck you will bag at least four of them as the rest of the wcs fitted campers warp to a ss and smack.

Zeba, of course we dont just jump 40 ships in blind, scout in first holds cloak reports back, runs back to gate and jumps back, if gate camp the other side, jump in a few vaga's , they run out, get points, then we all jump in and get em.... or variations depending on the situation...., for a POS, send in scout he runs around see's where the ships are, jump afew vaga's in to watch the gates out and point anyone trying to escape, bubble the station if there are a few in belts rattting whatever so we catch em trying to warp back to the station etc etc.... My first post was about the lack of response period, also the pure lack of anyone in 0.0 doing anything apart from sitting at a POS (as reported by the scout, not after we all jump in, cause OFC they all gonna try to log SS or scatter)

EVE IS PVP, but it isn't space counter strike, people actually lose things when they lose, don't expect to shoot it out with you just because you want to, If you stake someone out and bring their business to a halt or become such a pain in the a** to their renters and pets that they are calling for your head on a pike you'll probably get all the action you want.

Corrected that for you.
Generally though, I think you are right.
I recently went back to a 0.0 outpost where I had a Jump Clone. I thought if I was lucky and quick I'd be able to make my way back to Empire to re-position the clone.
Luck and quickness weren't needed. The blobotron (TM) was sitting in the station and not willing to undock to attack me unless led by an FC (who wasn't online apparently) leading me to conclude my puny main wasn't worth the effort of chasing 11 jumps to Empire (where a gate camp was set up en route that I easily bypassed) or that the attacking force were scared of me.
Shame really. PvP could be so much more.

Then go to low sec mate. Trust me there are tons of flashy red pirate corps that would just love to tangle with your gang and lots of nubs to kill along the way as long as you don't mind a easy to make back up tiny bit of sec loss for aggro and ship destruction as the only thing that really kicks your sec in the gut is pod killing. Trust me on that one as I quickly went from +2 to -1 with just one pod kill.

It makes *no* sense to go after neuts like that in 0.0. Only if the residents can find some 40-50 bored pvpers will you see something (to match numbers roughly). Otherwise any pvper in alliance is either afk, or off in hostile areas doing what you're doing.
Holding 0.0 is about supply lines, stations, pos's, moon mins. It doesn't matter who is in your space. The best tactic is to bore the attackers into leaving. Only attacking supply, pos's, or valuable moons is it worth defending.
If you catch a ratter, you're doing the residents a favor. If a ratter gets caught repeatedly (like more than once every few months) then they might need to be kicked from the alliance back into empire. It makes no sense to defend someone that is ratting. If some gets caught repeatedly, well, then they can't be taught. Keeping people on hand to defend ratters isn't worth the isk. Most ratters won't defend others because they know it just isn't worth the time.
So a gang like that is annoying but not threatening. You're talking smack to the afk folks in station and in the other 99 systems in the area the ratting continues.
Holding space in 0.0 has nothing to do with who is in what space for a few hours.

unless you told this corp in advance you were coming you can't really expect them to form up a notable defense fleet in 15mins, stuff takes time. sov-holding entities don't keep a defense-fleet ready to fend of roaming gangs, especially when reality is that you would be gone in 15mins anyways.
next time come in a battleship fleet, shoot their manufacture service for a couple of hours and I'm sure you will provoke a response

i think your right , smaller gangs are better, just went out with a small T1 gang, ships everywhere , spent an amusing 10 mins in a stabber , pointed a cerb...gang got it, stab half dead, then a vag jumped thu, pointed that and well I died but we killed it 300 mill in ships for my 4 mill stabber and a bit of fun...cant be bad.

I dunno replacing lost ships and equipment can be a big pain in the ass. Unless you have a ton of money and dont care about price. Unless you buy multiples of the same ship and weapons systems at the same time....and dont care about implants; getting the replacement stuff is tedious if not all near by. Some of us dont have billions either so... _________________________
