Edited by: Mickey Simon on 10/05/2009 11:13:38 As per the title, what do you guys want out of a killboard?
Be as specific as you can, and don't be afraid to mention stuff that Griefwatch and EVE-Dev (or indeed, any other killboard) already do, as I'm not too familiar with all the various intricacies of either one.
edit: so what sort of information do you want to be shown on the various pages? What sort of pages do you even want? etc etc.

So you want to record the value of each item at the time of kill eh? That would actually be pretty cool. Means that the perceived loss stays the same, even though the values fluctuate with patches etc.

One interesting idea would be a user-based 'kill rating' where people have the option of rating a kill out of 5 (or maybe 10). You could then sort the kills by user rating to get the most awesome ones on top.
Combine this with a points system based on the calculated difficulty of the kill (preferably taking into account other related kills too).
Also possibly have an option to submit chat logs along with a kill mail, just for all those tears. CLEAR SKIES 2 IS OUT! PLEASE SEED! |

I really like the eve-dev killboard layout, the only thing I don't like about it is the points system, but the griefwatch point system is awesome, also it would be cool if there was an option to add a kill to "The hall of fame" or something like that, so you can show off awesome solo kills, amazing loot drops n stuff

i prefer eve-dev's layout as opposed to griefwatch, which confuses me endlessly.

Ooooh, I like Garmon's Hall of Fame idea. Other than that though, I do find the Eve-Dev killboard to be great both for functionality and aesthetics.

More in depth info on ships/weapons fitted avaiable to the user.
Like when you fly x ship with x weapon you deal x% of the dmg dealt to the target
A way to sort target corps losses/kills by time
A better way to view engagements also add ships to the engagement. Sometimes the engagement will add misc crap that you killed up to an hour prior to an engagement. They also sometimes add people that were with you an hour ago but left so were nto there for the engagement. Other side may have say 5 logistics ships, but if they dont aggress anybody it doesnt show the actual fight. Its really buggy sometimes.
I also support the hall of fame kills idea. Sometimes you just have that special kill you want to save.

Griefwatch and its advanced search function is very cool (i only discovered it the other day) but I like others said prefer the eve-dev layout. A rating system/hall of fame as previously mentioned would be nice.

Loot splitting functions like this KB has are very handy:
Pirate Ledger
Basically, anything that will help a single person collect, sell, and then evenly distribute all dropped loot would be super cool. I also really like to see the historical profitability reports that go along with this.

my ideal public kb? hmm...
Accurate and recent prices/loot value, along with full graphical setup of the destroyed ship, and maybe even the ability to export to eft etc.
Some sort of cool stats tracking/ranks, with up-to-the-minute maps showing kills by location, etc
Ability to use api key so we don't ever need to manually update anything
Very fast and informative igb-compatible site access so we can get quasi-realtime stats updates

I'd like to see the ability to sort kills by the ship you're in, as well as whether or not they are solo. I think some killboards have this functionality, but not all KBs can do all the things we'd like. :)

going off the hall of fame idea, I'd love if you could "flag" a kill as good/impressive.
Usually when I scan eve-dev killboards I look for ones with lots of comments, since theres something special about them (hopefully)
in my head it looks like gmail's favorite button (the star, replace with a yarr-worthy symbol)
a points calculator for engagements, somehow calculated independantly of each individual kill for some cool stats

I really like the greifwatch layout, except all the things that are in flash. the survived/destroyed being in scrollable lists that is in flash just annoys the hell out of me.

how about a subdomain or modifier or some sort of public/private divisor that makes it so you can post links to the forums with the names and locations blocked out

I want pods to be considered a 'real kill' and given a basevalue that is way higher than most tech 1 ships. There's a decent chance the pod you killed had high sp and/or implants, I tend to belive that the average pod kill is worth more than the average ship kill. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

He speaks the truth, give pod's points. I would usually prefer to lose a T2 frigate than my POD usually. ☺ A Kirra Liu Presentation. Will give cyber for GTC ☺ |

Heh, when I fly t2 frigates with t2 fits, I generally have implants for approx ~200mil in my head. I'd be happy to lose many t2 frigates rather than a pod. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. If only there were a way of linking the points for the pod to the characters age...

Hadn't seen that before. Looks kinda useful, though not sure if I'd personally like it or not.
I personally love the idea of being able to rate or favourite a kill. That sounds pretty fantastic tbh.
