Retcon needed.
Paragraphs 1 and 2 of http://www.eveonline.com/background/potw/default.asp?cid=apr01-02 credit the Gallatians with the introduction of the third person perspective for ship piloting. No quote as it's the entirety of those two paragraphs.
Page 4 of http://www.eveonline.com/races/wetgrave/page_02a.asp?pp=background%2Cstories credits the Jovians with introducing it at the same time they gave the pod to the Caldari. Quote "You're viewing the ship through a camera drone. Think about moving. Try to move to the right. See what happens.".

Hmmm, nice try but who's to say that the Jovians didn't happen to pick up some camera drones from the Gallenteans before their meeting with the Caldari?

Because:
1. It's one of the most firmly cemented facts in EVE lore that the Caldari were the first to get pod-piloting technology from the Jove.
2. The first sentence in the camera drone chronicle says "After the Jovians introduced capsule technology to the empires several methods have been tried out regarding the visual presentation of the surroundings to the captain enclosed in his capsule".
The chronicle makes it quite clear that camera drones were introduced as a method AFTER capsule technology was introduced. It's mentioned that the method used by the Jovians was converting scanner data into a mental picture.
Yet in one of the first caldari trials of pod-piloting technology they mention camera drones.
Thus... conflicting lore.
