"Having a low efficiency on your killboard will attract more wardecs."
I've heard this repeated many times, with the basic idea being that being a soft target encourages griefers to wardec your corp, and kicking the snot out of them encourages them to stay away, meaning that you end up at peace most of the time.
It seems to me that if you're in a large corp, you're going to get wardecs no matter what you do. If you suck, you might attract corps looking to pad their killboard stats, if you don't suck, you'll attract corps looking for a challenging opponent. And you'll always get wardecs from corps randomly picking someone to fight next.
So, which is more true, in your opinion?

I would assume that a corp with a low efficiency would be a carebear corp, which would also make me assume that they do not have a killboard and all info is being puled from battleclinic, which means the info is faulty at best. But it is a carebear corp after all and some people find joy in killing haulers all day, when I analyse a corps pvp prowess I do not look at kill efficiency I look at what kind of kills they have. For example compare Industrial ship kills vs. Battleship kills, if the corp has more hauler kills than battleship kills their ability to organize, and willingness to fight is in question. All to often a "large" corp with a "good" killboard efficiency will buckle and hide if the first fight is lost badly.

Not really true very few if any look for a challenging opponent and if your corp if of a large enough size + having good killboard stats odds are you dont really have a lot of empire corps matching your capabilities.
This more or less keeps the griefers away since very few griefercorps that I've fought has been able to field more than 8-10 pilots max and once they face a few 20-30 man RR bs fleets and a week or 2 of stationcamping , or being located , tracked down and blobbed they more or less give up and drops the wardec.
That being said I do live in what is on paper a industry/missionrunner/mining corp that happens to do 0.0 roams 3-4 times per week. We never wardec first , but if we notice the use of altcorps they should be wardecced. :)
Ofc when you fight "good" griefers you will notice they have a tendency to hide in stations untill they outnumber their opponents or have a clear advantage in ship quality(hacs & CS vs T1 frigs cruisers in equal numbers)and generally avoid any fight against an organized opposition. Take the vaunted TRAPS as an example... in most cases they will never fight outside docking range unless they either have a numerical advantage or are facing a noncombat ship(mining barge , industrial etc). Not saying they are bad players , they play the odds and avoid fights where odds are bad, most likely they will have a positive killboard stat nomatter who they fight against, but still its not exactly bringing it.
