Edited by: Wacktopia on 11/05/2009 10:40:22 When I started training up and learning about EVE ships I took a liking to Gallente and took that route. Fairly predicatbly I ran around ratting in a Thorax until I made enought for a Myrmidon and then practiced in that, which is easy to fit and fly. Then up to a Domi for a nice, easy revenue stream from ratting.
So, I've started to look at PvP to burn away some of my hard-earned ISKies. I have tried some gang PvP in a Myrm, which I liked. Also in a Domi, which I didn't like as it was too slow and my support skills are not up to BS properly so I got shot down. I trained my support skills up to T2 drones and modules (except guns) and also into an Ishkur, which I like too, but lost because I made a foolish mistake - and when you're in a frigate mistakes cost you in about 3 seconds.
I'm not rich or skilled enought to learn the hard way in a BS and I'm prolly a bit under-experienced to do well in a Assault frig unless I'm in a gang as a tackler.
So Im back looking at the Myrm' for PvP and wondering if I should think about overloading, t2 guns, cloaking devices or another ship class?
Here's my problem: I've reached the point where most new areas (HACs, T2 Guns etc) all take a fair amount of time to train up. The other area I have not ventured into is rigging but this looks very expensive.
Any advice for an area to train next? I have ~7mil SP, mostly combat and support orientated, mostly toward Gallente.

Both the Deimos and the Ishtar are very good HACs (though they have very different roles). The Ishtar is arugably one of the most versatile HACs, and it will lend itself to both PvE and PvP. With maxed drone skills you'll do as much damage as a Dominix - no mean feat for a crusier - and it's no more onerous than training T2 large guns. You don't even need gun skills - just drones and ewar - to make the Ishtar shine.

While rigs are expensive you should really consider them for BC and BS and T2 ships. Even "cheap" resist rigs can be useful. And yeah more drone skills can help since they work with all drones.

Save the Myrm for makng your ISK. At the stage your at, I'd say work on your drone/gunnery skills (Advanced Weapon Upgrades, T2 guns, T2 Sentries, etc). You won't have the money or experience to properly fly HAC's yet, and you can still get great results with Thorax/Vexors in terms of PVP. Insure, pvp your face off to gain experience. Get into a good low-sec/0.0 corp that will take eager, pvp oriented players - if you want to fight, you'll find plenty of takers and the experience is invaluable.

Thanks for the feedback. I have decided to go for:
Thermodynamics - because overloading looks good and its only a week or so with pre-reqs. Drone Interfacing V - Just cant ignore that extra 20% damage! Cloaking - Only a day or so training to lvl 4 and I dont have this yet and it looks like a fun thing to play with.
